Athlon 64 3000 & ECC Ram?

does the memory controller of the athlon 64 3000 support unregistered ecc ram? i can turn on ecc support on the m/b, but memtest x86 says ecc is not supported.
 
Is the memory ECC, Memtest may be reading the memory not wether the MB supports it.
Considdering the BIOS has a ECC feature Im sure the MB does.
 
memory is ecc and there is an option in the m/b to support it, but i am not sure if the memory controller on the athlon 64 3000 supports ecc - was that only an opteron option? also when ecc is turned on w/ the m/b, the post screen shows "ECC" after the memory speed and cpu-z shows the memory is ecc
