so, I finally moved my HTPC into the cabinet where it belongs.

It's been there for 3 days running smoothly (computer has been working for a month just fine, but only had a chance to move it into the cabinet the other day)

Anyways, I know it's hot in there and just loaded everest onto it, to see the cpu diod at 54 degrees, and the hard drives are at a similar temperature as well.

The cpu is an athlon 4000. Is this a safe temp to be running at? I know alot about intels, but next to nothing about amd. My dual core idles at 19 degrees, so 55 seems like alot to me.

54c is safe temp to be running it at. Perhaps you could look into enabling cool & quiet. Oh, and 54c under load is safe, if that's idle then it might go above 65c under load which is something to worry about, you don't want it running at 65c or higher 24/7.
