I can't go over about $120.. and I am looking at this processor:

Do any of you have a better suggestion for that price range other than this one?

That one has no heatsink/fan, so you'll either need to buy one or pay $11 more to get the A64 2800+ reail package.

i can only see the 2.4C for $135 near that A64....but i'd get the A64 for the newer boards you can get

Newer socket, on-die memory controller, 64 bit support and the most important better performance.
Lookat these benchmarks the A64's dominate the Bartons

hey, that CPU u posted has a CO revision CG. Repeat, it is NOT a true Newcastle.

If u look at teh end of the model number it says AP NOT AX. AX means *true* newcastle so you should be mindful of that. COs has weird results when OCing

It's a damn good CPU... if you do buy the OEM you will need a heatsink.. hope you can go over $120 😛

id say go for it.. don't bother dropping back to 32-bit... if longhorn actually goes well then youll be maximizing the 64 bit capabilities and thanking yourself you didnt go 32 bit 🙂

Nope, buy it, but get a retail version.
