Damn! Anand just mentioned the 2800+ wasn't due till next year in the Hyper-threading article and here it is already :Q Considering that Newegg and Anandtech have a co-op I'm even more surprised that the Egg didn't make him aware of the 2800+ being available now :Q

I'm happy that AMD is getting these chips out the door finally, hopefully we will be seing Barton's pretty soon (these are the next chips after the 2800+ Tbred, right?).

Yeah, this was unexpected. We thought 2800+ was a 2003 product....

Is AMD the preformance leader again? All of the benchmarks on anandtech seem pretty close. The Nforce 2 helped things a whole lot. What do you guys think?

In your dreams boy! ;)

I don't see the 3.06 at newegg though :) Also I play UT2003 and *cough* the XP 2800 beat the 3.06 at Anandtech and Tomshardware. (In the botmach score where it really counts)

[EDIT] well kick me in the ass the 3.06 is at newegg :p

The 2800+ did win in a few benchmarks, but the 3.06 won the majority of them...

So you're claiming that, on the whole, a 2800+ is faster than a 3.06 P4? Please... ;)

BTW, the 3.06 is available for sale in Japan already, so it shouldn't be long for the US. I somehow don't think Intel wants to join AMD in the paper launching game. :p

Wow $720 for the 3.06gig. And the 2800+ is ONLY $410. Think i'll be waiting awhile to upgrade my 1600+.

I wonder how the scores would show with a OC'ed HT 3.06 and a OC'ed 2800+, HardOCP got theres to 3.68Ghz w/ Air cooling....
Hopefully the new chips will give AMD some slack, their stocks are hurting, and have been cutting jobs constantly, 2000 people on the 6th :Q

Great news for AMD. I'm glad they're finally getting all their promised products out the door. Now if we could have Bartons and Clawhammers:)

Intel will paper launch when AMD makes their CPU's look silly again. Remember when the 1.0 Ghz Athlon was released?

Did everyone miss the fact that they force you to buy an MSI KT4 Ultra and a stupid fan/heatsink combo along with the proc or you can't get it. So basicly they are selling the XP 2800+ for around $540

Link 6th item on the page, click on the bold purple text. Look at the Comments section.

And I'm going to have to wait until it drops below the magic $50 mark. Guess I'll be waiting awhile...

Too Bad about the MSI MOBO for this CPU, I ordered a lesser msi for my server yesterday, but I doubt that this one will out perform ASUS or SOYO among others. Has to be a kickback in there somewhere. MSI had to get in first and test their board to be the first approved 2800+ board. My SOYO KT-400 is already 2700+ certed and I wonder if the 2700s are just overclocked 2400s ? If they were the same core as the 2800s, then how come other boards with 2700 support supposedly aren't certified?

My guess is that we've been buying, ( Me included ) is the cream of the test crop in the B core manufacturing process. It had to get expensive throwing out all the silicon when you are only getting 50% yields for 4 monthes. That would explain why the 2400 was only $200, right were the 2200 was a month before 2400 was released. I myself will wait and see. The $ doesn't bother me, as I expected that AMD would ( and should ) boost their profit margin, if they want to stay in business. I would pay the extra $ to keep AMD producing my CPUs. It's not unreasonable.

However I would be interested how the cores clock and how stable the platform is before I buy.

These are exciting times! Are they not?

Besides Here is a Complete 2000+ system for the same Price as the 2800+ deal. Kinda puts things into perspective.
