Athletes and religion

It's almost as if these jocks are saying: "God thinks I'm special, so you should too."
I read up until this point....


Religion is all in your head, it's all about how *you* want to take it. If you pray to your god about making a big play, then by all means give him/her the credit. If you feel that the strength of god compelled you to make a big catch in a high-pressure situation, show your appreciation. People do it with the big things in life as well as with the small things. If someone wins the lottery, do they have any less of a reason to thank god, as compared to someone who may have found a buck on the ground?

These guys might not be the holiest of the holy out there, but you know what? If that gives them security in life, through thick and thin, then what's wrong with showing their appreciation of what (they believe) they were assisted with?

That's just my $.02 :)

In looking at several examples of athletes who proclaim to be staunchly religious and those who demonstrate the exact opposite, I see no performance difference between the two groups.
