Quickie - I'm looking at a new CPU/MB Combo... which CPU is generally going to give me the best performance... the Athelon 1.4ghz 200mhz FSB or the Athelon 1.4ghz 266 FSP?

And any motherboard recommendations?

Thanks

I would spend the 126$ and buy an XP 1600+ and pair it up with the Shuttle AK31A for 80$ or the Epox 8kha+ for 105$. You can get both @Newegg

Yah, do what Dapunisher said. No point in getting the 200mhz DDR Athlon if you are getting a new mobo as well. Also depends somewhat on what components you can port over and if you plan to use RAID or if you have a RAID card. Might wanna go with one of the more expensive ones if you need sound (Abit, Asus, Soyo, Iwill).

Thanks for the info... I'm getting new everything.. so that's not an issue. also, I can go up to about $225 for the MoBo adn about $200 for the CPU, so I'm going to go with the Athelon XP 1800 since it seems to be the upper edge of reasonable price/performance. Any recommendations on the MoBo? I want the best and have the $$$ to get it.Raid would be great.. was lookinga t the ABIT KR7A-RAID.. since it give me more available RAM slots

Anyone have other suggestions on the MB?

The Abit is sweet! The SOYO K7V DRAGON+ Plus VIA KT266A is a fast, full-featured, Raid solution as well, with great on-board audio. It also has"Sigma box- Support smart card reader/writer to usb port".
