Instead of always unplugging and replugging between my desktop speakers and headphones in the back of my PC, I would like to have my headphones connected to the audio output plug of the cd player(on the front of my machine).

The quesiton is: Is it possible to listen to MP3s on my hard drive through that output? Can I specify what audio comes out of which output? I never listen to cds at work, just internet radio. I'm tired of always having to crawl under my cube to switch the headphones.
I'm running Win2k.

nope... sorry but that won't work.

I have my headphones in the appropriate jack of my Hifi system which in turn is connected to the PC. Anotherway is to have a small switch on your desk, pick one up from any elecronics store like Radio Shack.

Get a 3.5mm extension cord for audio, plug it in the back of your computer, tape it on to the top of the desktop or something, and plug it in there.

Or get some desktop speakers that have a headphone jack on the front of them.

Thanks, I usually look for a way that I think is impossible. I'll just get and extension.

If you plug headphones into line out will it still work? I know the signal is not amplified on hte line out, but will it still work for headphones?
