Should be good for them financially, methinks, especially if the Steam versions don't include Securom.

Sweet, Steam is the way to go.

Oh a question about it: providing i remember my account id/pwd, i can redownload any game i've purchased at anytime right? I don't have to worry about backing up steam downloads?

Correct. You can also burn backups to DVD/CD to restore without downloading to expiate your gaming restoration in the event of an emergency. :p

Edit - Something I am curious about though, The Witcher. I have a UK copy of the game, and its likely that I will rebuy another UK Enhanced Edition of the game. If I link my uncensored games to my US Steam account, what effect will it have?

Wait, I can add box versions of Act of War to Steam now? Or do I have to buy them over again to add them?

w00t!

jassi, you most likely have to buy them again if you want them in steam...only valve and a very few other games let you enter your cdkey to validate the game into steam.

you can always place short cuts in your steam games list to launch your games through steam. its a nice way to have all your games in one place. I love steam. it was good when it was just valve stuff not it is amazing with all the other publishers on board. it is a great system and i hope even more developers get on board. it is the best way to actually buy games, and in a way you are still downloading them so the inner pirate is satisfied. and when steam has those great deals its hard to not buy. like two worlds for $10! it would be kinda nice to get those 40 hours back though.

You'll have to buy them over again. I've actually purchased a number of Id games and some Eidos games again simply because I wanted them in my Steam account - given, those games are older so it wasn't too expensive.

Good to see. While I'm still not 100% sold on the benefits of downloading multi-gigabyte games, I do use it - and seeing as gamestop now has the same policy on PC games Balrog does on kicks, it's always good to have more options.
