The price is ok, but that is the original Atari Flashback, not the new and far superior Flashback 2.

The old Flashback has only 20 games, and they are not the original code in some cases. It has really tiny (ie bad) controllers that are meant to resemble the not so popular 7800.

The new Flashback 2 has 40 games, running on hardware that was recreated from the original 2600 designs. It includes 2 genuine classic 2600 joysticks and can even use vintage controllers like paddles because it has the same connectors. Plus, the system was even designed to be hackable to add on a cartridge post if you can believe it. The head designer of the Flashback 2 even has a website showing you how to do it.

Bonus, it has that retro woodgrain look we all grew up with!

Only negatives to me, only 40 games, and very few licensed games, so no Pac Man, Space Invaders, or Frogger. It does have some good ones though.

Priced around $29.99, but Target has it for $23 in store for the next week or so.

Here's a review of the original Flashback from guys who should know http://www.classicgaming.com/features/articles/reviews/holiday04/atariflashback/

and some info on the Flashback 2 http://www.classicgaming.com/features/articles/flashback2/

Damn. Why did I sell my Atari 2600 along with 30 games way back in 1985? Should have held on to that stuff. Never would have thought that one day it would have nostalgic value.

Yea, I garage sold mine back in the very early '90s, wish I had kept it too. A friend of mine still has one and about 30 - 40 games, and ALL his games still have the original boxes. Prolly worth a fortune!

I may pick one of these up for an early Christmas present ;)
