Hey I was wondering how to get my plextor burner to show up in DOS mode when I run Norton Ghost 2003. It is the px-w1240ta and it says atapi on the manual. When I try to burn to cd in ghost, the drive does not show up. When I go to device manager is says plextor scsi cd rom , although it doesnt seem to be scsi. This is strange. Can anyone help me?

You have to load a pair of device drivers to get a CD-ROM drive to show up in DOS. One is the device driver for the drive which is loaded in the CONFIG.SYS file (e.g. c:\driverdir\cddriver.sys CDROM01) .
Then you have to load the DOS CD extensions in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file
(e.g. LH C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\MSCDEX.EXE /D:CDROM01 /L:M /M:12 ) where the entry after the /D: is the same as the drive name you used in CONFIG.SYS, after /L: is the letter you want the drive to be and after /M: is the number of buffers that your drive prefers. The DOS CD driver should be on the Plextor utilities disk that came with your burner along with some sort of readme or text file re. setting the driver parameters to work best with your drive.
