Atacom are terrible in terms of dealing with money order and it doesn't take 4-5 days to process it!:|

They recieved my money order last monday and finally told me today that they will ship my things tomorrow morning!

I've ordered stuff from other computer dealers and they shipped my stuff the same day they recieved the money order.

What gives?

I mean..it is usually the check that takes 4-5 days to process.

Ridiculous!!:|

It really depends on how the company deals with money orders and cheques. A lot of companies use a service called Telecheck. Basically they just phone this service and verify the cheque with the service. Then, if the cheque bounces, Telecheck has to pay the company. This of course comes with a 2% surcharge.

This will clear your cheque right away. With money orders, there are two ways that I know of to deal with them. You can call the bank and verify that it is legitimate ie. NOT counterfeit. Or the company can take it to the bank. Some companies will be able to send the product out the same day if they go to the bank the day it arrives. However, the company may have a procedure of only going to the bank every three or four days.

I sent a money order to MemMan.com last monday and they recieved it wednesday. I got my 128MB PC-133 Mosel chip last thursday morning. Now, that is some service! 🙂

This is the last time I'll order from Atacom. :|

Atacom has some serious communication problem. If you cancel something, it'll still come when it's in stock. Those chinese guys just doesn't understand english

If you can't get a credit card then try to get a bank debit card that works in conjunction with your checking a/c - there should be no charge for that and your credit worthiness doesn't matter. I believe vendors will process purchases with those cards just like credit card orders.

Yah, a check/debit card will work with online retailers. Just don't screw up (like I did)

Ordered a monitor and floppy drive from egghead.com on Sunday

First try to place it gave me an error and to go back and try again...
Second try gave me the same error...
Came back to it 5 hours later and I was finally able to complete the order process...

Checked my bank account this morning...turns out that ALL THREE ORDER ATTEMPTS HAD GONE THROUGH SUCESSFULLY!!! Needless to say I was pissed. I called egghead and cancelled the two failed ones and let my bank know. Bad news is my accound my get overdrafted (I ordered a lot of parts yesterday).

Hopefully I'll get my refund REAL FAST.

YA, Ulysses and you have no protection against fraud when you use a Visa debit card, bad idea. I will never buy another product from atacom again. After dealing with sales people who cant or wont speak english that can be understood and thier stupid must be tested in 24 hours of delivery to claim a doa product and try to get a rma from them. Thier prices are cheap but is not worth the hassle dealing with them.

Actually, I have bought quite a lot of stuff from Atacom and have never had a problem YET. However, I always use a credit card from a local bank, cause if something goes sour and it's not my fault, the bank will credit my account (and debit the seller's). With a money order the deal is off!

Just my $.00
