My stupid ATA100 slave connector snapped off and am now using one of my older ATA66 cables. Anyone know if performance degrades or is it purely based on the drive and controller? They sure look the same to me. If so then ill get some nice round ones..

The cables are the same as long as they are 80-wire cables with blue, black and gray connectors.

uh, wouldn't ATA66 cables be the 40-wire IDE cables, as opposed to the 80-wire 40-pin EIDE?

No. ATA33 is 40 pin, 40 wire.

ATA66, 100, 133 are all the same: 40 pin, 80 wire.
