ATA133 Cables have one pin missing?

I have purchased a number of ata100/133/66 types of cables in the past and there's a pin-hole missing on a set of matched cables I purchased recently... prevents plugging into certain mobo connectors or certain drives. Is this normal?

It is normal, and all drive and motherboard connectors should have that pin missing as well. Make sure you're orienting it correctly. Even older drives that I have are missing that pin, but it's possible that some old stuff doesn't.
