ata100 question

do both devices on the cable have to supports ata100 to work at ata100 speeds?

if it is like ATA66, which would seem logical since it follows the concept that ide devices can only transfer at the slowest devices speed, then all devices on one channel would have to be ATA100 for any devices to transfer at ATA100
