ATA100 HD Recommendations Wanted

Will be replacing my daughter's IBM 75GXP 30gb drive ("cricket noises"... no boot... bad sectors... corrupted files... used IBM's DFT v2.30 to "fix"... fdisk... reinstall XP... you get the picture).

She has an Athlon slot K7 700@850 using GFD, an Abit KA7 mobo with the on-board HPT370 "ATA-100" controller.

Looking for good, fast, durable, reasonably priced HD, aroung 30gb size. Want ATA-100, 7200rpm, good speed timings PLUS DURABILITY!!!

What do you AT experts recommend?

Its is really a matter of preference I think.
I use Maxtor, good price and performance.

I have two Western Digital 40GB 7200 RPM hard drives and couldn't be more happier. I just bought another to replace my 75GXP for the same problems you're having.

I love my 120GB WD Caviar ATA100 for $100 at CompUSA with rebate and BB PM. Ahh!!!
