ata100 drives are backwards compatible with 33/66 controllers, right?

i mean, the drive may not be operating @ what it was advertised to, but it works true?
and an ata100 drive into a ata33 controller would prob. run faster than a ata66 drive, true?

This is correct. The HDD will work fine.

Wrong on this one. It doesn't matter if the HDD is ATA 33, 66, 100, or 133. If connected to an ATA 33 controller, then the drive will run at that speed. No faster.

if a HD is , 66, 100, or 133 and attached to a 33controller,
the HD is the only device (MASTER) on that controller? I cannot at a slave device?

And can a regular ata33 cable be used?

Yes, you can add a slave device. It will just operate as an ATA33 device.

There shouldn't be a problem with it.
