ATA RAID + SCSI?

Hi!

I have a HPT370 IDE RAID controler + Adaptec 2940UW SCSI controler on my computer. Is it possible to use both? Like SCSI disk for booting and ATA100 disks for storage. I have HPT370 turned OFF in BIOS at the moment but if i enable it, the SCSI controler BIOS does not detect any devices and freezes.

With the BIOS, it's one or the other - you obviously can't have two different interfaces controlling the bootup procedure!

The main question I have is... Why? UWSCSI is way slower than even ATA33. Is it for other SCSI device support like scanners and Zip drives? If so, disable the SCSI BIOS, enable the IDE RAID BIOS and that should be it.

Can't agree w/ the "ATA faster than SCSI" without qualifying that a bit: It depends on what you've got connected to the various controllers, and what you're trying to do.

Assuming you only have one drive on each controller, BIOSes tend to assign C: to IDE drives first, so Windows needs to boot off the IDE...so I agree with Magicthyse, that you should boot off the IDE drive, and use the SCSI for additional storage, and/or for your swap-file.
