ata-4 vs ata-6 compatible??

I am relatively clueless when it comes to laptop hardware....I 'm needing to upgrade a HD that came with an old Dell Inspiron 5000e. It currently has an ATA-4 drive in it. The drive I want is an ATA-6. Will this work? Thanks
