ATA 133?

ATA133?
So does anyone know if this is going to be handled in the same way as ATA100, as a 'pretend scsi' device? The ATA100 controller on my A7V was enough of a pain in my XP / 2k / RH triple boot that i just disabled the damn thing and used the ata66 controller.... IDE should be IDE, almost zero setup, I don't like that they made ATA100 "scsi" only more troublesome IMO. Thoughts?

I couldn't get the Promise on the A7V to work well either.

Don't worry, ata/66 is way too much bandwidth anyway.

Im running an A7V with Redhat 7.1 and Win2K Sp2 in a dual boot.
Just installed Win2K first with the HD on the ATA66 controller, then installed the Promise drivers, then moved the drive and installed RH.

Ok...ATAxx speed has nothing to do with whether or not it's treated as SCSI or not.

The two integrated ide channels in the southbridge are treated as IDE.
Extra IDE channel through promise, high point (or the like) chips are treated as SCSI.

if you added an Promise Ultra33 to your mobo that would get treated like SCSI.

Anyhow, if the motherboard chipset (Via 686C? Intel I/O hub 3?) integrates ATA133 channels, they will be treated normally. Using an add in 3rd party ATA133 controller will result in those channels being treated as SCSI.

friend had a huge problem with his A7V. A friend at IBM in portsmouth (UK) took it to his labs and found that there were some seriuos problems with the whole setup of the BIOS, the board and the promise controller.

so, my friend now has a gigabyte board
