THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN FIXED

System:
MOBO-Biostar M7VIG 400
VIA KM266 Pro chipset
Video Card-Nvidia 6600 8X 256MB
Memory- 1GB PC3200
HD-80 GB Maxtor ATA133

I loaded WinXP with SP1 and followed it with SP2.
It now takes almost 20 minutes for a restart.
Bios splash screen showes the Maxtor as a ATA 133.
Disk IO seems to be what is causing the slow operation.
I have read some M$ knoledge base posts about Via chipsets and XP SP1 having problems with ATA 133 drives not running mode 6 but nothing about SP2 having this problem.

I ghosted an image to an ATA 100 drive and system boots dang fast. Image creation was fast also.
Any ideas on what could cause this?
Thanks,
C Stierhoff

I installed the VIA 4in1 that came with the Mobo but had not downloaded the latest. That worked. and since I downloaded that one, VIA has poseted another.
SUPER Thanks tk11.
