When I first built my KT7 system up with a ata100 45GB IBM drive it was picked up in the bios no problem as ATA100. Unfortunately it died less than 2 months later. I replaced it with a Maxtor ATA100 40GB HD (cause the stupid supplier wouldn't cross ship a new IBM!) The Maxtor wouldn't come up as 100 - only 66. I'm using the same cable (the 100 one) plugged in blue end to the M/B and have tried both master and slave ends to the Maxtor - still no ATA 100. I was suspecting that maybe the drive wasn't quite right, but when my IBM finally came back, I hooked it up and it didn't pick up ATA 100 either. I've tried going back to default CMOS settings to no avail.
Anybody who wants a chuckle, feel free to tell me what stupid thing I'm missing - please! <G>
