ATA-100 Defective on A7V?

SPAnDAU

I am setting up a system with and A7V and Duron 700. Everything went perfectly well except for one thing. I can't get any drives to detect on the Promise ATA-100 controller. I have used an ATA-33 and 66 drive, and neither would detect during the POST. I have checked the BIOS and ensured that the controller is enabled. I don't have an ATA-100 drive available, so would I be right in assuming that the controller only works with ATA-100 drives, contrary to what Promise says about it on their website?

TIA

Span,

Load the Promise drivers while your harddisk is connected to the regular controller, then move your drive to the Promise controller. Works for me.

Loading the drivers for the controller in Windows wouldn't have any effect on the controller decting the drives during the POST though, would it?

i had a horrid time with those drivers - random lockups - 2-3 mins to boot into Win98..it was horrible - i disabled the drivers and flashed the bios to 1004 - disabled ATA66/100 all together...
