You're not missing anything, unless 10 seconds to cast instants when you have 100 ms ping is exiting to you :)

What?

I hate waiting for queue when raids at 630 and i log in at 615...and wait 30minutes, to an hour!

anyone need an Alliance druid resto? ;-p

I thought for sure I got hacked (I did start using IE last night as my default browser again but didn't go to any suspicious sites including wow forums). I went to the website to change my password (only being able to put in a new one) and it went through fine... I login and everything seems kosher. Nothing deleted, nothing missing, gold all there.

Why would my password all of a sudden not work? It had been the same one since I started the game 2-3 years ago.

So I played with this new password for one night (last night)... and try to login again right now... password once again not working. Change it, login, and my characters are naked. My guild says I logged in 30 mins ago and gquit. Fvck... I didn't check the gbank (I'm an officer) but as I was about to open a GM ticket I am kicked off... I try to relogin and my now-new password once again isn't working. Most likely key-logger... the machine is running a virus scan right now. I don't know how I got a keylogger but it's most likely something to do with going back to using IE since 2 nights ago. I haven't visited any suspicious sites. I do use wowmatrix. I don't know, but I'm feeling a bit vulnerable right now.

same thing happened to my little brother...he had no idea what he did, but a reformat fixed it of course.

YES DO THIS

ill do it for you as well, i trust you trust us. and yes its most likely DIRECTLY related to IE

keyloggers arnt always virii, most times simple scripts or something that is in a cookie, run addaware/spybot and all that but your best bet is to just do a format/reinstall

start using Firefox + addblock and noscript or Opera

i recomend Keypass to protect passwords for anything and everything (i beleive someone else here uses it as well)

Open a GM ticket or better yet CALL blizz CS, they should have your + guilds stuff back within a week

it sucks :( but at least blizz is getting better at restoring peoples accnts

i actually find it strange that its getting worse, its not like gold is worth anything anymore in terms of real world money

Any idea about Bliz' CS phone number? I am still running an adaware scan on the machine (809 infections detected right now and still going)... even so all the wow.com info says to open a GM ticket in-game and if I do that I have to reveal my new passwd again.

Phone Support

Unfortunately, there is currently no phone support feature for the Account Administration team.

One of the problems lately with WoW is that in the WoW forums people post links consistently in just about every forum to a keylogger website, and those caught unawares get scammed. I noticed 6-7 different threads with keylogger links on my first visit to the WoW forums when I started back up again a couple months ago. There is an entire community built up in WoW around scamming people and their accounts; any and all tricks will be used and they will go to no limits to scam even children.

interesting...I try to stay far away from links in the WoW forum...you'd think they have enough mods to control it though.

There are so many compromised accounts that it's hard to control. They will use a compromised account to post the link that is a keylogger; it's a vicious circle. I have seen people boasting of 15+ scammed accounts in the one forum. They'll use the scammed accounts as a way to filter gold that they further scam from other people to try and make it untraceable. I guess in a way WoW has a dirty underground mafia.

Ok guys, need an advice.
My DK (alliance) is level 80, his dps gear is done (pre-raid) and tanking gear...well he can get some from instances but that is my problem: I'm bored with it.
Can't get myself to replay borean/fjord with the level 72 hunter or 73 paladin.
Can't get myself to replay the low levels (1-40) on anything...

What do I do? :(

PS I'll use use the next patch as an opportunity to start a horde DK on another server (where my little brother plays) but thats a week to a month from now.
Once I accumulate stuff I can start a level 1 and play all the horde stuff I've never done so itll be like a new WoW for me.

I had someone tell me a story about how they've had their account hacked multiple times in one week... and I have no idea how .

I only use IE for specific websites... mostly things work related where if those sites had a bug on them, I think the least of anyone's concerns would be a WoW account . I mostly use Mozilla + ABP + NoScript. I'm thinking about also throwing Flashblock in there even though NoScript allows me to block flash via blocking a site, sometimes I want to allow a site but not allow all of the flash crap.

You also need to watch for vulnerabilities in software like Adobe Flash. You cannot get magically infected unless there's a vulnerability or you run software... but essentially, something must be executed (whether it's a program executing a malicious file that will take advantage of a vulnerability or a malicious program).

EDIT:

Try finding a character that's more fun to play. Also, just stop playing for awhile. Sometimes after leveling a bit and doing a lot of crap, you just need some time away from the game. I took a good couple weeks off where I only logged in to do Inscription trainings. I got back in playing lightly and started playing a bit more and more. I also varied my time quite a bit which is why you'll see that I no longer have a character at 70 anymore... they're all 71 or above now.

I actually had fun playing my hunter and ret paladin. Get some decent gear for the lowbies... maybe some of them account bound things and let them beat the hell out of everything :D.

I use vanilla firefox..no need for ABP or noscript imo.

granted, I have never had issues with ie or ff.

what's a good hunter build to follow for uber DPS? Also, what's the 'best' DPS pet? PVP and PVE style?

so adaware found 800+ tracking cookies and nothing that looked obviously malicious. Are keyloggers cookies or trojans?

"Antivir" antivirus came back completely clean.

that is just so I don't forget my password right?

WoW is installed on D: ... so if I "reformat", I can still leave that alone and just deal with wiping out C: correct? keylogger should be gone?
