Our biggest problem with vael was that we kept having a healer get selected first to blow up. So I told one of the mages to start attacking as soon as the tank said he was going to get higher on the threat list sooner to see if that would help. It worked and he was more often than not the first to go kabloom.

Yay Blood Queen be down. Hoping that the guys realized how easy the fight actually was so next week won't be such a Downs-fest. Can't wait for the hours of wipes on Sindragosa P3 :(

New Horde Strat for WG if they're attacking: If you're running out of time, send all 50 billion of your buddies into the main Courtyard to lag out the Alliance so we can't blow up the 1-2 siege engines you get through. Losing with 30 seconds left blows goats. Someone loan me Server Xfer money :*(

Sindragosa on normal is an extremely easy fight. It is not a DPS race, just a survival fight. I think we put in 3 attempts total on that fight our first downing.

That may be new to the horde, but where do you think we learned it from. ;)

Paladin Preview:

In World of Warcraft: Cataclysm we’ll be making several changes to class talents and abilities across the board. While this list only outlines some of our plans for the paladin class, we want to give you a look at the new high-level abilities and an overview of how the new Mastery system will work with each talent spec.

New Paladin Spells

Blinding Shield (level 81): Causes damage and blinds all nearby targets. This effect might end up only damaging those facing the paladin’s shield, in a manner similar to Eadric the Pure's ability Radiance in Trial of the Champion. The Holy tree will have a talent to increase the damage and critical strike chance, while the Protection tree will have a talent to make this spell instant cast. 2-second base cast time. Requires a shield.

Healing Hands (level 83): Healing Hands is a new healing spell. The paladin radiates heals from him or herself, almost like a Healing Stream Totem. It has a short range, but a long enough duration that the paladin can cast other heals while Healing Hands remains active. 15-second cooldown. 6-second duration.

Guardian of Ancient Kings (level 85): Summons a temporary guardian that looks like a winged creature of light armed with a sword. The visual is similar to that of the Resurrection spell used by the paladin in Warcraft III. The guardian has a different effect depending on the talent spec of the paladin. For Holy paladins, the guardian heals the most wounded ally in the area. For Protection paladins, the guardian absorbs some incoming damage. For Retribution paladins, it damages an enemy, similar to the death knight Gargoyle or the Nibelung staff. 3-minute cooldown. 30-second duration (this might vary depending on which guardian appears).

Next you will find a list of some of the paladin spell and ability changes, followed by our intentions for improving each talent tree for the release of Cataclysm. There will be further changes, but those revealed below should offer some insight into our goals.

Changes to Abilities and Mechanics

 • Crusader Strike will be a core ability for all paladins, gained at level 1. We think the paladin leveling experience is hurt by not having an instant attack. Retribution will be getting a new talent in its place that either modifies Crusader Strike or replaces it completely.
 • Cleanse is being rebalanced to work with the new dispel system. It will dispel defensive magic (debuffs on friendly targets), diseases, and poisons.
 • Blessing of Might will provide the benefit of Wisdom as well. If you have two paladins in your group, one will do Kings on everyone and the other will do Might on everyone. There should be much less need, and ideally no need, to provide specific buffs to specific classes.
 • Holy Shock will be a core healing spell available to all paladins.

New Talents and Talent Changes

 • We want to ease off the defensive capabilities of Retribution and Holy paladins slightly. We think the powerful paladin defenses have been one of the things holding Retribution paladins back, especially in Arenas. One change we’re considering is lowering Divine Shield’s duration by a couple of seconds. Having said that, Retribution does pretty well in Battlegrounds, and Battlegrounds will be a much bigger focus in Cataclysm since they can provide the best PvP rewards. Furthermore, the healing environment of Cataclysm is going to be different such that a paladin may not be able to fully heal themselves during the duration of Divine Shield to begin with, so this may not be a problem.
 • We feel Retribution paladins need one more mechanic which involves some risk of the player pushing the wrong button, making the rotation a bit less forgiving. In addition, we want to add to this spec more PvP utility. Right now the successes of the Retribution paladin in PvP seem to be reduced to either doing decent burst damage, or just being good at staying alive.
 • We want to increase the duration of Sacred Shield to 30 minutes and keep the limit to one target. The intention is that the paladin can use it on their main healing target. That said, we would like to improve the Holy paladin toolbox and niche so that they don’t feel quite like the obvious choice for tank healing while perceived as a weak group healer.
 • We want to add to the Holy tree a nice big heal to correspond with Greater Heal. Flash of Light remains the expensive, fast heal and Holy Light is the go-to heal that has average efficiency and throughput. Beacon of Light will be changed to work with Flash of Light. We like the ability, but want paladins to use it intelligently and not be constantly healing for twice as much.
 • Holy paladins will use spirit as their mana regeneration stat.
 • Protection paladins need a different rotation between single-target and multi-target tanking. Likewise, we're looking to add the necessity to use an additional cooldown in each rotation.
 • Holy Shield will no longer have charges. It will be designed to improve block chance while active, and will continue to provide a small amount of damage and threat.

Mastery Passive Talent Tree Bonuses

Holy

 • Healing
 • Meditation
 • Critical Healing Effect

Meditation: This is the spirit-to-mana conversion that the priest, druid, and shaman healers also share.

Critical Healing Effect: When the paladin gets a crit on a heal, it will heal for more.

Protection

 • Damage Reduction
 • Vengeance
 • Block Amount

Vengeance: This is the damage-received-to-attack-power conversion that all tanks share.

Block Amount: We want to keep the kit of the paladin as a tank who blocks a lot. So by contrast, the warrior tank will sometimes get critical blocks, but the paladin will absorb more damage with normal blocks.

Retribution

 • Melee Damage
 • Melee Critical Damage
 • Holy Damage

Holy Damage: Any attack that does Holy damage will have its damage increased.

This concludes this Cataclysm preview for the paladin class. The development of these changes will continue to evolve in the coming months. Please be sure to provide any feedback and thoughts you might have on what was covered here.

Everything felt disappointing so far, except for the lock, shaman, and rogue changes. Lock and Shaman were great first impressions and had amazing previews but every class pretty much went downhill from there. Well, I'll have to wait until the actual Beta to see the exact talent changes then before completely put down any classes.

Sad part is that some of the tards in my guild passed on it and it was DE'd, because they didn't want to spend the DKP on it.

honestly I did that at first also because I didn't have an OH, had dying light which was pretty good.

But aura fights it's just insane, I got it after Sindragosa this week which I can't wait to see how easy she is now

Interesting pally stuff. Although this guardian thing sounds a bit like making them OP. And pallys need instant attacks at all levels? How about those clases that have no non-talented or non-extremely long c/d instant attacks at all.

A DKP/point system is still by far better than loot council. In my 5 years of playing WoW, never had a loot council guild last more than 3 months due to drama among loot issues. My longest run with a guild used a DKP system. Inflation was a problem, but it didn't bother someone to the point of leaving the guild.

Just feel like loot council ends up with favoritism, disagreement beyond the council and those who want the loot (other members feeling that XXX deserved it more than YYY, resulting in guild-wide drama), council members not knowing classes very well and end up making poor decisions, and so much more.

Have a kinda funny account hack story for u guys. A couple weeks ago I got an email from Blizz saying that my account has been suspended for economic exploitation (fancy wording for gold selling i guess), so I went to check out my account since it's been inactive for a couple months now. Sure enough, someone had broken into my account, and they added an authenticator so I couldn't get into it. Anyway after calling blizzard I got the authenticator removed and I got back into my account and everything to find out they had leveled a couple of my lower guys to 80 and racked up a good amount of gold to boot. Also I have about 3 weeks left of the month that they paid for so I can screw around with my new 80s a little bit lol.

My account was hacked when I originally came back a few months ago, someone had lvled my DK's primary professions up - was a nifty way to make gold.

I have a little over 200k, so I think if I got hacked it wouldn't end up as pretty. I could use some trade skills though. Just hit 80 on my paladin 2 days ago and haven't touched its skills.

Not sure what I think about the Paladin changes... not really too much there for me to comment on (at least as a Prot or Ret Pally). I do like getting Crusader Strike early on as this is mirrored in Shamans getting Primal Strike early on.

I'm curious to see what this new sort of rotation will be for Prot Pally tanking... they said they want to differentiate multiple and single target tanking. It seems that Blinding Shield will be one of those abilities as it probably won't be terribly useful against a single target (low damage per mob).

Blessing of Might and Wisdom being combined is kind of cool. If Blizzard follows their other remarks, then talents that improve buffs should also be going away, so everyone gets the default BoM/W now. This'll be a nice change, but I wonder what they'll do about BoSanc? When there are enough pallies, it's typically just used for the permanent -3% damage taken.

I can see Guardian being reduced for Prot Pallies. It will most likely only last for 5-10 seconds and be another tanking cooldown that we use. I do like having more cooldowns available to me as a tank in case I need them and there's no mention of it causing that debuff (which name eludes me at the moment >_<).

I fiiiiiinally got my trinket tonight, but that doesn't solve the problem of the guild pretty much having absolutely no involvement. I mean, for God's sake, we wiped on Marrowgar (again) because we have to use DPS that switch to healers and tanks (with sub-par gear) because we can't get people to sign up or want to go.

I was pretty much in the mindset that if I had to go on my Paladin again just so we could actually get a run going (like I did last week) and the trinket dropped again... that I would pretty much be done. I have no qualms with losing an item to another player, but losing the chance to actually get an item just irks me... especially when it's caused by terrible guild attendance.

If you look at our 25-man progression, we haven't killed a new boss in over a month. It reminds me oh so much of Ulduar 25-man when it took us over a month to defeat a new keeper and we never killed Yogg-Saron ( with 4 keepers up ). I think we might just manage to beat the Lich King with the 30% buff and that's if the stars aligned and the fat lady sang.

Now, some of the 10-man performance reminds me all to much of ToGC10. For quite awhile, not many people really wanted to go to ToGC10, but once we beat Anub'arak, everyone was all, "I want to go! Take me too! You always take the same people!" Well no shit, the people we take are actually good! We started taking other people and would wipe on stupid shit like Northrend Beasts. You can see it now with how we'll wipe on shit in the first wing... I mean, I didn't think that was even possible anymore.

I think I just need to stop playing this game.

Have you considered looking for a new guild? I know when it got that bad for me I started shopping around and ended up going to the other high end guild on my server, and am very happy I did. I fit in better there then I ever did in any of the other guilds I was in. Sometimes all thats needed is a change in scenery.

On another note, our guild got HM Putricide down last week, and my god that fight is a test of nerves. I think I got more agitated at our wipes on that fight then any other in Wrath.

My guild has been running Loot Council since early BC (Gruul/Mag). We haven't had many issues at all really. No matter what, you are always going to have those few people, but they come and go like you would expect. So far we are 11/12 25 normal ICC and 6/12 HM 10 man ICC.

Do you use a rotating loot council? I can't recall the name of the guild but I tried applying to them. They were probably the few that are still around since pre-BC using some form of the loot council.

anyone know if the celestial steed also functions as a ground mount for characters under-60 or 80's in areas where flying mounts aren't allowed?
