I don't think ~220 for a 930 is absurd, the price points I've heard for the 980 stuff I consider absurd. Of course with nvidia playing backseat in the current gpu cycle we're seeing much of the same there still.

One thing I forgot to add that I found last night. Stopped by and did the quest for summoning princess and drakes in badlands. Normally I solo with a strong class or get another to help, but they must have been nerfed again in the last couple of patches. The mobs are no longer even easier than normal elites...they are just normal mobs now. It was pretty much send pet in, hit arcane arrow starting auto attack, and watch them die a few seconds later. Also all the princess spawns despanwed right away (not included those the pets swipe killed, lulz) which I can not remember for sure is a new or older change. Since the other drakes in badlands weren't modified, making sure you have enough room to summon and kill the quest ones is by far the trickiest part there now.

So, I've been looking for a new case due to mine having quite a few "practice" runs with a dremel on it (first case I've cut into myself). And I am glad some of you mentioned the 800D. That looks like a case I would love.

I've reached the plateau of gear I can obtain in ICC25 normal now without killing LK or getting tokens. Thankfully, two hunter tokens dropped and the two with higher dkp than me spent almost all theirs on them. I might end up grabbing the next two on the cheap, if we get another two ever. It has taken nearly 4 weeks since I've seen one.

Your 860+5870 is beating my 920+GTX285 because of the GPU, the 920 @ 4GHz can only do so much. It does compress Fraps footage like crazy however :D

I need to try to get a good OC on my processor before I really start using it. I'm not really that good at overclocking though and I usually let the tool handle it, but given how I read that Windows doesn't exactly like you changing the clock or the vcore while in the OS, it will blue screen every 4-5 changes, it may take awhile to actually get to around 3.8ghz or so.

EDIT:

I got some new 1920x1200 monitors coming, so once I get those, I'll probably see a nice reduction in frames :p.

EDIT:

Trying some OCs and they're not terribly stable... Super PI is crashing on calculating 8M digits. I had to drop it down to about 170Mhz (2.8Ghz -> 3.596 Ghz) from 180Mhz just to get Super PI to finish properly. I'm wondering if I might have an issue with the RAM... did you raise your RAM's timings at all, Anubis?

The highest temps I got were 56C, 53C, 53C and 58C, so that's not too bad I guess. They seem to idle anywhere from 39 to 43 though, which is fine.

My ram is running at 1600 mghz which is well over the default (1064), manually set timings in the bios to the ram timings
I had to up all the voltages to get stable at 4GHz but its 18+ hours prime stable and temps are fine

Dram voltage to 1.6v
CPU is running 1.31v with level 1 vdroop correction turned on in the bios
CPU PLL voltage is running at 1.88 (also called uncore IIRC)
QPI/VTT voltage at 1.25

Hmm I was fine in Super PI but WoW crashed, so I just reset the BIOS to turn it back to default speed :(. I'm pretty awful at overclocking, so I typically just leave everything stock.

I'm curious if I just needed to up the RAM timings a bit... it's quite possible since I believe I was up around 1600MGHz as well.

EDIT:

Without my overclock, I'm getting about 40 FPS during BQL25, which isn't bad... I just want to be above 30 FPS.

I had to turn my video settings up... I forgot that I turned them down!

you can just google for an OCing guide for the 800 series. it differs slightly from the 900 series because of the different sockets

but when you OC its always best to turn off auto everything and manually lock in everything (voltages, timings,....) also turn off turbo mode and the power throttling things

getting a stable OC takes time, and yes its annoying because of that. This was unusable for like 2-3 days because of it

and for today's rng is rng lesson, all three of my chars random run was for the forge.

and for today's rng finally isn't rng, only one of those dropped the axe on the first boss, vastly different from the 80% or so rate i see it as.

looks like SC sliding further desolate on the allied side, rumor that at least one more of the bigger remaining guilds about to bail.

did hapen to check the voa book the other day, and it's something like 20 allied defenses and 800 horde defenses :)

yea that doesn't look bad, its nice that he actually tells you what all the settings are and what they do, use it as a guideline and see what you can do, i imagine your crashing issue is prob due to something wanting more power, CPU or Ram.

Grats on your items. I now have over 1250 haste which i find hilarious

Quite possibly... I mean, I probably should've used more than just Super PI to test. I've used Prime95 in the past as well, but I was doing this all kinda quickly. I see people using LinX as well.

I'll most likely take the 3.8Ghz setup (since I was running at that for a little bit) and try working with that. I can definitely see the difference between running at the stock vs OC settings in WoW.

EDIT:

Jeez, didn't even realize how old my version of FRAPS is... there's already a 3.1.2 .

The guild you're talking about is Hanging with my Gnomies. They're pretty quiet, but have been quite successful in raiding.

Not exactly a good thing. I know our guild has been thinking about jetting, especially if free transfers come back up. Plus, all the Alliance idiots are faction xferring to Horde, so now your faction is becoming more and more diluted with retards. Grats :)

Regardless, sooner or later, SC is going to become more like Cho'gall, where Alliance are pretty much non-existant.

I have an alt shaman on Area 52 (alliance side). Its an insane horde to alliance ratio. Everytime I login and jump into a WG, its a full 20 tenacity and the horde camp us at our flightpoint.

having problems with Putricide - we get to Phase 3 but there is always an add up. we burn down the add and get on the boss, but we always wipe at 1%.

i've suggested that we pop putricide when an add is up and almost dead, as opposed to popping putricide after we finish an add (since slime has always spawned for us when we did this), but the guildies insist on "sticking with the strat that has brought us to 1%".

i hear that you can pop vanish and invis prior to tear gas on phase 3 to avoid getting stunned. i will probably suggest that next to help push us past that last 1%...

but is there a right way to do it without getting an add up when phase 3 starts?

The way my guild does it, is we stop at 37% and let the last ooze come out. We then burn it while the big guy picks up the puddles. After that, we push the boss and usually end up with a clear room. On occasion, we get a little sloppy and have a puddle up, but rarely do we push P3 with an add up. We have the dps though, as we never get close to the enrage. And yes, you can vanish and dps during the tear gas.

Yes mages can invis and rogues can vanish the gas on prof, we do the same as smack, stop DPS on him before the trans, kill the slime and then push him over

you can also vanish/invis the raid kill @ 10% on arthas, one of our 10 man groups managed to kill him while he was doing his RP BS, and then fordring doest rez you.

Damn... I got my monitors in today (on a Saturday... crazy) and these things are just... humongous! I almost feel this crazy sense of immersion into what I'm doing simply because it's in almost my entire field of vision.

2x Dell 27" UltraSharp. I would've gone with the 24" ones, but there were a lot of comments about people having strange tinting issues and Dell not doing anything about it.

I do like that I can put any sort of video on and easily watch it from my bed... before I could do that with my 20.1" monitors, but reading any sort of smaller text on the screen would require binoculars :p.

EDIT:

I used DisplayPort on this, which actually gave me an error on boot up about the ATi CCC being unable to set my monitor to "optimal display resolution" even though it was already set to 1920x1200x60. Kinda odd.

Naw it wont have the 10% buff yet, blizzard posted a while back when they'd be switching to 10% and I believe it was the first week in April. Watch for LK25 heroic kills afterwards.
