I'm still trying to choose my monitors though. I like the 27" UltraSharps, but I've never actually seen one in person and I'm wondering a bit more if they're going to simply be too large. I could always go with two 24" monitors instead.

This is probably a matter of personal choice and available real estate. I've got 2x22" and want more, though I could see how with widescreens it could really start wrapping pretty far to one side (I have one directly in front of me and the other off of it to the right).

I've also been looking at new mice and keyboards and I simply cannot find anything that I actually like. I'm contemplating the Logitech G500 mouse, but all the reviews I read simply say, "this is similar to, but not as good as the old Logitech G5" and the Logitech G5 is what I'm using right now (and prefer). I'm using an old style G15 keyboard, which has served me quite well for about 3 years now. I've seen the G19, but reviews seem to be kind of mixed on it.

I've got a MS laser mouse and love it. Batteries go for months, range is good, it's responsive, nice size/weight. The only thing I didn't initially care for is the scroll wheel - it doesn't click. Was weird at first but now I'm fine with it. The MS driver comes with a utility that you can make keystroke macros to bind to buttons.

on the KB/Mice issue, i made a rant months ago in the prehip forum about how shitty keyboards are and that the manufactures have no idea how to make a good one, it still gets posts every now and then

I use a G7 - i have for years, It IMO is the best mouse out there, I have used ones from razer, stealseries and whatever but nothing is as comfortable/useable as the G7 IMO, G5 is the same i just don't like wires

My fave keyboard of all time is no longer made which pisses me off because mine died

right now i use this and it gets me by

I use Apple keyboards I get as hand-me-downs from work. I like the key action, but eventually my spam buttons get tougher to push and I have to get a new one from work.

I don't like the new flat aluminum ones so I dunno what I'm going to do when we run out of plastics :)

Trying to find a ranged on BQL to bite is such a pain. So many gnome warlocks.

Oh and we had one of our Pally healers use Righteous Fury for the damage reduction... and he ended up getting the first bite because of his high threat lol.

We had a similar situation Wednesday...on Saurfang one of our holy pallies decided he wanted to stand in melee...with RF on. Needless to say the first four bloodbeast came out and all started whacking him...we got a mark pretty quickly cause of his dumb move. Not that it really made the fight any harder, but it was just someting stupid that pissed off us officers.

I use a G15 I got for free and it is okay. I never use any of the extra buttons except the song forward one. The screen is nice, but I don't even look at it much. Mouse wise, I use the Razer Naga and I love it. It looks like overkill, but I can do a lot more with it than I thought I would be able to upon purchasing.

I use a 28" HannsG monitor and it is a lot of screen. I just wish the borders were smaller, I'd love some EyeFinity.

And running WoW on and SSD improves load times a lot, but I don't think it improves much else. I've used one for awhile. It is nice not loading a lot, but it is still cool.

You should have as many healers are possible during that fight. We up it to 7 healers and 1 shot it no problem in my guild now. You should have people interupting the guys who slow people. My group has the hunters kiting the Zombies until they die. The supressors should be top dps priority at all times, followed by the blazing skeletons. After those two, the other guys aren't nearly as bad. Your healers entering the portals should never let their stacks fall off. Before our healers got used to that, it would cause us to get over run everytime.

While the hunters are kiting the zombies, are the other ranged dps supposed to be targeting them, or just let the hunter solo it?

What strategy are you guys using on phase 2 of Sindragosa? We're still stuck there. We breeze through phase one but as soon as we transition to phase 2 our boss dps goes to hell and we end up eventually falling to bits on the ice tomb swapping. Right now we have groups 1 and 2 switch off killing the tomb/clearing their stacks. All the running decimates our dps, so I think better positioning might be helpful, but we're already positioned like the Tankspot 25 man does, on the stairs. Just not sure how to shuffle it to improve the situation.

Our raid comp isn't ideal, we run 4 hunters, so there are usually two hunters per Zombie. We don't need much help, as two of us are 1 and 2 on dps. I suppose if the other ranged don't have anything to target, they could help.

We we do it on 10 man (we haven't attempted 25 yet), we have two ranged dedicated to ice tombs ( 2 hunters) and have people clearing their stacks when they need to. People have gotten up to like 20 stacks before clearing and we had no trouble healing it.

I went and picked up that raza mmo mouse when my copperhead started freaking out. I wanted something with a couple extra buttons I could program, but it was pretty much this or the regular 3 button ones unless you get something that's butt ugly. Haven't really used it much but should get more into it this weekend.

Once you get used to the button layout, it is really nice. Training your thumb to hit the side button pad where you want takes about an hour, but the results are literally 12 extra macros you can hit without a second thought.

Seriously dude with one of those Intel's you won't notice a difference versus having it split like that. That's just overkill, it would be easier to simply buy one 160 GB drive and put the OS and all of your games in there, then use the big regular drive for storage.

Well, the difference between splitting them, even if negligible isn't much. I don't plan on using much of the second 80GB SSD, but Intel doesn't sell a good 40GB one (the 40GB x25-V is much slower). I do prefer splitting the OS and games apart from each other though... it's something I've tried to keep up for a long time, but don't always have.

Also, given the size of my Steam folder ( around 120GB right now ), I absolutely cannot put all of my games + the OS on a 160GB SSD... it simply won't fit. That's why I bought the Raptor 300GB drive... it's practically my "Steam drive."

One other little thing I'm kind of excited about... my new motherboard has USB 3.0 on it. When I upgrade my laptop, I'm also probably going to upgrade a few drives in my server from 750GB/1TB/1.5TB to 2.0TB (I actually have a 2TB drive sitting around that I haven't even installed yet :sneaky:), so I may have a few drives left over. They're currently selling USB 3.0 enclosures, so I'll probably but a 2.5" enclosure to put my laptop's old 250GB HDD in and a nice 3.5" enclosure and I'll finally end up retiring my old 250GB WD MyBook.

I'll probably end up buying a USB 3.0 adapter for my laptop too and mainly use the 2.5" enclosure with it. It'll help since I'm pretty sure my laptop only has one HDD bay (Dell XPS M1530) so I would use the other drive for some storage.

My guild did Festergut and Rotface last night, I tried a few new tweaks and hit 6700 dps on Festergut. It's nice to finally be getting higher up there. I noticed as a shadowpriest that if I constantly just spam devouring plague when moving from the spot I normally stand to where they gather the spores it allows me to keep up my damage using the instant damage portion of the spell.

I was surprised at some of my DPS last night on Festergut. One of our failed attempts, I ended up with 9.7k DPS and that was after the usual drop from dying. A few other attempts had me doing a bit worse, so I'll have to see what's up with that.

Sadly enough, even with a few of us rocking the meters, we still barely killed him. You may even laugh at how we did it. One of our Paladin healers literally bubbled himself right before the enrage and took Festergut down the last 30k hp. It reminds me of one of my old Vaelastrasz the Corrupt kills where somehow only a Paladin lived at the end and he killed him with a HoW :p.

on the KB/Mice issue, i made a rant months ago in the prehip forum about how shitty keyboards are and that the manufactures have no idea how to make a good one, it still gets posts every now and then

That's pretty much the complaint I read about quite often in reviews on newer keyboards... how someone will buy a later model and it even feels cheaper than a previous version that they had of the same keyboard. I mean, my G15 has gone to hell and back and everything still works on it. I did lose one of my macro keys, but that's because I'd tug on it with my finger to adjust my keyboard and it eventually kinda came off :p.

I use a G7 - i have for years, It IMO is the best mouse out there, I have used ones from razer, stealseries and whatever but nothing is as comfortable/useable as the G7 IMO, G5 is the same i just don't like wires

The G5 is pretty damn amazing... I just wish I had the 2-button version instead of the 1-button, but I couldn't see myself paying $60 to upgrade. One of my favorite aspects of it and one of the reasons why I can't see myself easily switching mice is that I actually use the weight cartridge in the back because I'm so used to wireless mice (I used a Logitech Cordless MX Duo before this) that I was used to the weight of them. So I figured out a good weight combination and went with it :p.

I like the G15 overall, but I'm kinda like you... I don't even use any of the macro buttons (I don't like shifting my hand that much) and I never use the LCD screen... in fact it always stays closed (I have version 1, which has it on a hinge instead of always being visible... V1 also has blue backlighting ;)).

I use a 28" HannsG monitor and it is a lot of screen. I just wish the borders were smaller, I'd love some EyeFinity.

That's actually one thing they brag about on the Dell monitor that I was looking at... they push the fact that it supposedly has rather small bezels so dual monitors isn't so bad.

Once you get used to the button layout, it is really nice. Training your thumb to hit the side button pad where you want takes about an hour, but the results are literally 12 extra macros you can hit without a second thought.

I just can't see myself getting used to that thing nor having much to put on the side :p. I currently use my side mouse button as auto-run and I rather like that. The only things I could think to put on the side are stuff like Main Assist macros and maybe a few things I don't hit often but could use on a whim (totemic recall, etc).

EDIT:

As for monitors, I'll probably just get whatever Dell puts on sale first during their 10-day sale. If they don't put one, I'll have to decide whether I really need that much real estate or maybe go to a store and take a peek at 27" monitors to get a better idea.

On the topic of keyboards/mice: I *fucking love* my G7, I'd highly recommend a G5/G7 to basically anyone who wants a quality mouse.

I used a Saitek Cyborg in the past (but it died when my apartment flooded, I'm just glad my computer didn't), I liked how it felt to type on so I was considering getting an Eclipse II to replace it. Right now I'm using a $10 microsoft keyboard, and I hate it.

But then I saw: http://www.steelseries.com/us/products/keyboards/6gv2/information

I'm getting this thing when it comes out. Ghosting is my #1 problem with keyboards today, and most "gaming" keyboards that feature anti-ghosting really only feature "diodes on WASD", plus I just hate how most of them have adopted that laptop-keyboard feel to type on. HATE.

Makes me sad that I have to wait until Tuesday to even start building :(. Well, I guess I could actually put the CPU, HSF and RAM on the motherboard.

Another sad thing... Dell raised the price on those monitors back to $930 :(. I wonder if that's because they're planning on putting them on sale... hrmm.

Anyway some pics

Case: LIAN LI PC-V1000BPlus II
CPU: Intel I7 920
HS: Thermalright Venomous X
Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD3R
Ram: 6Gb (3x2Gb) G.Skill Pi series DDR3 1600
Vid Card: GTX 285 OC

I prob would have gone with the Megahalem/Mega Shadow if i knew i was gonna have this much room for it
