Getting cross-realmed. Kinda like the zone phasing between servers except this is permanent and other than players always having a realm name as part of your name ID it's like you are on the same server.

Also I installed the hearthstone beta yesterday which it seems includes the new bnet game interface. Noticed that after the install I could see it automatically updating D3. When I launched WoW from it I still had to go through the WoW logon screen. I thought this new interface was eliminating that since you are already logged into it universally?

not sure how it works for wow but for D3 you just hit Play and it loads you right in

IIRC there is an option you have to check to have it auto log you in and such

The current battlegroup wide version for non-panda/capital cities is like the GW overflow. This version is a permanent pseudo server merge but they don't fully merge to avoid people having to rename characters. Looking at a quick pop listing, seems mine is higher very horde heavy, the oncoming one horde side about 30% less peeps but they have minimal alliance presence. So this is probably being done o help those schmucks.

Was going to try and pop into D3 tonight to see if that makes me log in again or not.

That is the thing though. Back then, that was the basis of PvP and you earned the honor it had back then to "up rank" along with the massive slugfests that happened, because the world was "small", thus people came to help.

Since then:

- Plenty of "Endgame" non raid content: With dailies, brawler's guild, pet battling, islands to farm, LFR and flex there is so much one can do once max level hits, unlike before. (before was normally long 5 man dungeons more or less)

- So many more BGs RBGs and Arenas were added: Thus giving people who liked PvP, a way to PvP without having to wait for enough reinforcements to show up when ganking a lowbie who probably jumped on his main or called for help from the guild. Plus with them being faster way to obtain honor/conquest as they added pvp gear, people will do them more.

- Faction Xfers: Because of this, many servers went unbalanced on population. So it is much harder to find any possible world skirmishes, as the population vastly outnumbers 1 way or another

- Resilience and PvP Power: Shifting the ability of just having good gear, to the correct gear for PvP, it is no longer interesting to try and counter attack pvp geared players. Especially when a solid 5 can enter the enemies capital and cause chaos almost never dying unless an equally geared and skilled group comes. (See this plenty of times)

- Location/World size: In vanilla you had only so many places to go. Since then you have now 4 huge continents, 1 separate world, and a few extra zones. There is so much space now, that to have enough want to come together and world pvp battle, is more unlikely, especially since Flying mounts were added and once they mount up, they can run away without risking being caught, stunned and killed before they could get away on a ground mount.

All true, as the game world gets bigger and more activities spread the population ever thinner the chance of a "furball" type battle gets smaller. They may be gone, never to return, but there will always be hope.

Also, re: pvp geared players - Geared pve players pretty much 2 shot geared pvp players these days from what i have seen. Maybe not 2 shot every time, but pve gear is on top everywhere but in BG's.

This might be anathema but is the legendary thing solo-able?

Use oQueue addon to get a group. Done in maybe 20 mins.

Looks like they're changing RAF rewards. A new mount coming and from my guestimate on the blurb that was posted, you'll be able to chose from any of the released mounts instead of just the current.

i noticed this happens to me sometime. i'm not sure why, but i get a little message in the bottom left of the battlenet login screen that says i am not connected. but that is the only time i cant just immediately connect to wow. as long as i dont have that message, i click play game and it logs me straight into wow (or diablo).

It looks like there is a box to check to stay connected through the interface, I'm assuming if you don't check that after awhile it logs you out of the interface even though you are in game. So if you exit, you'll then need to re logon again.

This game really needs a shot in the arm, do we know when the next xpac is coming or are they waiting for blizzcon to tell us?

I'm sure it will be a blizzcon announcement with them hoping to have it out this summer, being delayed till the fall, and extra effort spent to make sure it's done by the time of the holiday season.

That is a great idea to release this upgraded battlechest.
Maybe it'll bring in a bit more peeps for the next year...

That seems like a long time to wait, was hoping for March-April but I guess Blizz is not known for getting anything out fast. Maybe they will try another season pass to try to retain players, worked pretty well with D3...

That time frame is more within their "desired" date, but going by each expansion cycle what I've said is much more likely to be the actual result.

The current expansion is barely one year old (released September 2012), and while I still believe their ultimate goal is to be able to shorten the period between expansion packs to 18 months, I don't think they're going to be able to do that this time. If I had to guess, I'm going to say mid-to-late summer 2014, with the standard delay to early fall to August-September (i.e. I'm a little more optimistic than lupi :D).
