At what velocity do airsoft guns start to really hurt?

In the eye? Pretty much always.

I've been shot several times with BB guns, which shoot a much more painful projectile than airsoft guns, and the pain is very easily ignored. IMO anyway.

An electric airsoft at point blank range won't even break the skin. You'll defintely get welting but that about it. A spring one will probably be a slight sting.
