There's so much I want to say, but arguing with a troll is like trying to breathe underwater.

what do you mean? he's an elite member.

So is Apoppin, but nobody can figure out what the hell he is trying say 90% of the time. The days of "elite member" meaning anything are long gone.

The last time it was asked, it was given because of something he did at his place of work relating to distributed computing? Supposedly he set up a folding client on all the workstations without permission. I think the title was given before they knew he did it illegally.

If that were the case, why was it not removed?

Not sure. I don't even know if that's the real reason.

Come on now, without Dave, this place wouldn't be as entertaining.
As for the elite title, I don't give a sh1t what title he really has, he's still the tinfoil guy to me. The world is out to screw him.

So am I. That makes me anyone you might meet on the street. I could be a serial rapist, a serial killer, etc., but I will always be "elite" here.

Am I special, Fsck No!

What in the hell is this thread about?

moonbeam is *special* ... you can figure out what he says ;)

Otoh, the video trolls don't understand *anything* but fanboy language

... the other *moderated* forum members understand what i am trying to say at least 95% of the time ... no prob ... SW ... GH ... OT ... CPU ... FI ... FS/T
-the *important* forums

who cares what the fanboys in Video think?
anything offends them if it doesn't offer worshipful respect to the nvidia or amd god
--not even the mods care unless it gets ridiculously out of hand

video is where the garbage gets posted and any crap is tolerated ... it is General Hardware's P&N ...

i like it :p

:D

btw ... do you [people] even know what an "elite" member is?
--or the criteria for elite at ATF?

i always thought that the elite member needed to do something that would be a benefit to the forums. such as xknight's LCD buyers guide, that thing is awesome.

once the deed is done the mods vote on the individual as i understand it.

i see an elite member as someone who goes beyond the call of normal membership. they have made and continue to make contributions to the forum that make the forum a better place. mechBgon, rossman, and jokersmoker are prime examples, so much for rossman and jokersmoker that they have custom titles.

to me dave's title should not be in question. this is coming from someone that doesn't even like dave. he earned it one way or another and he continues to make contributions to the forum. sometimes it is just, "why do you hate america?", but there are other things that he does too. at least he isn't running around posting MALIBOOO!!! in semi-random threads.

actually there is .... but is is somewhat nebulous

Elite members are those who have been supportive of the forums, and positively contributed in a variety of ways, whether it is being helpul [sic.] answering hardware questions, tracking down trolls in For Sale/Trade or just simply bringing a few smiles to other members in Off Topic.

Elite often begins with a 'nomination' from a forum member in FI ... the membership overwhelmingly recommending that person with no reasonable dissention from anyone ...
... it goes to the mods who recommend or deny ... and to the Administrator for approval

as to *me* ... i have been here a long time ... i started in GH and OT ... and except for video [where no one really gets respect] i have been considered generally reliable and helpful ... i defend ATF everywhere i post, so i am considered *supportive* ...
plus i know how things "work" here so i can also help with forum questions ... and history ...

-- like right now :)

seriously ... i don't really know ... maybe i slipped by the admin under the radar? :p
... i know a 'bunch' of us got the title at the same time? ;)
