This whole abortion thing again...
At what point do you think that a fetus goes from being a lump of cells to a conscious being? I think that a lot of abortions are wrong, but I have no problem with aborting a fetus if it is not a conscious being. I know it's never a cut and dry period of time - but most beings must sense something at a relatively similar stage in development when the brain is starting to function.
Personally, I would NEVER want any child of mine to be aborted because I couldn't live with the fact that I could have had a child, but I don't deny anyone else the choice.
I have no idea when an event like consciousness begins. 1 month maybe? Anything after 3 months and I would have to think it was aware of itself. I dont think I could condone it at that stage.
On a side note, another belief I have that goes against thinking that aborting a fetus after a certain period is wrong, is in the event that my GF got raped. I don't care how old the fetus is. I want it dead. I don't care that it is not the childs fault... I will never raise a child from this situation and I would not support keeping it until birth and giving it up for adoption. I have no wavering thoughts on the issue.
