At what age does he find out

Tragic. Where the fuck was the mother?

This. And why are the buttons 20 inches from the floor?

because normally the issue is that a single kid gets in the machine and generally they don't turn it on while inside.😛
freak accident.

Then again I wonder if you remember something like that if it was really traumatic for him and he was able to comprehend what had happened (the reaction of his mother, paramedics, etc.). Personally I think my first memory was one or two from when I was 4.

The girl was in the water-filled, tumbling machine for at least two minutes before her mother found her. Her death was ruled accidental.

Oh, one of those... At first I was wondering how she could die from that, when she could have easily popped her head up and jumped out. But the sideways washers have to lock/seal when they start. Bummer. 🙁

what washer has the controls that far to the ground? i have never seen a washer have the controls anywhere but near the top of the machine. was it built for midgets or something?

"They don't know if they were playing or not"
?

Really? What else would a 4 year old and 15 month old be doing around a washer, with a 4 year old climbing in?
If it was a 16 year old, we could argue suicide by instructing the toddler to push the button.
But 4 years old? No way it was anything other than playing. Come on. People always have to look so hard into the most simple things.

Maybe it was supposed to be the top half of one of those up-down washer-dryer combos? That's the only reason I can think of that the controls were so low to ground...

Wow...that's rough. What a way to go... 🙁

Only about two minutes. Maybe she was taking a dump?

I don't think people realize how difficult it is to keep an eye on someone for every minute of the day..

Yeah, two minutes isn't that long... but I know my washer takes longer than that to fill and start agitating. Do front loaders start that much more quickly?
I'm just sayin'
