at this time is a SSD worth it

I am considering getting a ASUS G74SX and am configuring it. The question is whether to get two magnetic drives or swap on with a 120gb SSD.

At this time is SSD worth it. Powernotebooks will let you swap one 750gb magnetic for a 120mg SSD for about $170 extra.

I assume, I should use that as the boot drive with the OS prob window 7.

What are your thoughts?

whether ssd is worth the cost or not is up to the consumer I guess. It is in my opinion way more necessary for a laptop these days than it is for a desktop. laptop spindle drives are generally slower than a nice fast 3.5 drive such as the samsung f3. Usually companies rip you off though when configuring with a ssd and you don't get to choose which one you want. I would let the asus come with the 750gb drive, and I would swap it out myself. Then I would buy a small enclosure, and keep the 750 drive in it as a external. Then you would have the best of both worlds pretty much.
