im working on a dell desktop here and when you start it up the computer beeps about 10 times at the dell splash screen and across the top of the screen you see *!!F*!!F*!!F*!!F*!!F etc... across the screen. then the computer boots and seems to work fine. should i be worried and test for hardware failure?

its not keyboard error because the unit does it without a keyboard plugged in.

POST beeps usually are trying to tell you something. Sounds like RAM to me. Perhaps you need to upgrade your bios? If you think it ain't broke, don't fix it. OTOH, if it's a dell, and under warranty, make the call, make them fix it.

It depends on the model, but generally Dell's do not beep 10 times.
They beep in a series (4-3-3, 2-4-3, etc).

If it beeps that many times, and still boots, it most likely is a failure
on the motherboard.

The only errors that add up to 10 beeps are onbaord Timer-Chip counter
or Video Memory failure.

Does the model have the 4 LED's in the back?
If so, what colors are ABCD?
