AT&T WWAN

my friend has wireless wan internet through AT&T. i don't have any experience w/ wwan. his problem is sometimes when he tries to connect to the internet, a message comes up and says something like: "Another instance of HP Connection Manager is running under another user account", and he can't connect to the internet. And then, when he tries to shutdown or reboot the computer it says other users are still logged on and that shutting down the computer would cause them to lose data. this doesn't happen every time so sometimes he is able to connect.

i'm not sure if he has one problem or two. i'm not sure if there are other unauthorized people logged into the account which is causing him not to connect and also the cause of the shutdown message... or if it's something else. does anyone have any experience w/ AT&T WWAN and this kind of thing. He has turned on firewall and reset administrator password.

cliffs:

1) friend has AT&T Wireless WAN Internet
2) Error message: Another instance of HP Conn. Mgr is running under another user account
3) Error message: Other users are still logged on...
4) One problem or two?
4) Suggestions on how to fix problem?
5) He has turned on firewall and reset admintrator password.

Sounds like there's another user logged into the computer. Ya know how XP and Vista let you "switch users" without actually logging one off before logging onto another account.

*EDIT* You can find out what other users are logged into the computer by bringing up the task manager and going to the Users tab.

thanks... i'll suggest that to my friend.

since it's a laptop, i'm wondering if someone is logged into it unauthorized over the wireless network?
