AT&T U-Verse packages

Homerboy

Lifer
There's a huge push in our neighborhood lately trying to beat out Time Warner/Road Runner.
Is anyone using the U-Verse service at all for TV/Internet/Voice?

If so, any opinions?

I've thought about signing up, but don't want to lose my precious Tivo. I haven't yet looked into how hard it would be to get the two to work together, or if it's even possible. Anyone know?

if it's anything like the Fios from Verizon, i can tell you, i'm getting 2 DVR's, movie and sports package (showtime, starz, sundance and various sports channels), unlimited phone service and Fios Internet for $127.00 / month.

that is a price.

Just did a search. Looks like there is not yet a IR code that allows the Tivo to control the STB of Uverse. No Tivo kills the deal for me. Wife won't stand for life without Tivo.

Uverse comes with a DVR

and how is its AT&T's fault that tivo doesn't control their box. My slingbox works just fine with one of the Uverse receivers.

There are lots of DVRs out there. Not just any DVR will do. The one that comes with Uverse is not a Tivo DVR. Not having Tivo kills the deal for me.

I never said it was AT&Ts fault Tivo doesn't control their box. If you'd asked, I would have said it's Tivo's fault for not programming in the codes. I believe that when enough of Tivo's customers get Uverse and complain and/or cancel their Tivo accounts, Tivo will get around to it.

Hell, I'm still waiting on Bellsouth/AT&T to bring 6meg DSL to my neighborhood. 😛

With the merger just being completed, I probably can't expect Uverse to hit Atlanta for another year or two.

i like uverse...tons of programming and selection?

complaints? the ATT DVR box they give you is TERRIBLE... its soooooooooooo slow and prone to memory leaks..which results in the box freezing/needing a reboot

(the non-DVR box doesnt record so performance is better)

complaints 2? ATT service is hhhhhhhhhhhhhhoooooooorrrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiibbbbbbbbbbbbble. tv service ? good. internet service ? good. customer service? bad.

Excellent feedback, thanks. Confirms my "wait 'til Tivo gets around to programming the IR codes" stance. I'll likely get Uverse after that happens, unless the competition steps up.
