AT&T To Sprint

Next month I plan right to drop AT&T for Sprint. Am I crazy?

A few years ago I had a Nextel phone and had real big signal issues. Customer service was also horrid.

Now I get a company discount on both Sprint and AT&T. The AT&T discount is 5% better but the way AT&T bills I do not get the discount on the data or texting part making Sprint deal actually slightly better. Even though I canceled the $20 a month unlimited text in favor of google voice. Also from reading reviews seems Sprint 4G network is faster/better in NY then AT&T.

I will have to pay 1 year worth of early termination fee from AT&T. But this seems cheaper then out right buying a new phone on AT&T.

I plan to get either a Win7 Mango (if they out by then) or newer Samsung S2 series phone. Currently using a Samsung Captivate which I have had nothing but issues with. First one loud speaker died 3 weeks after owning it. Second one loud speaker now kicks in and out. Phone also randomly lags out. Stock 2.1 after trying some other roms. All roms/stock have the lag issue.

Really hate to possibly pay more the $60 a month for a cell phone but not 100% happy with AT&T right now. Verizon I will not touch.

sprint sucks in NYC. you walk through manhattan and lose signal every other block sometimes. death star is a lot better

With Sprint, you roam free on Verizon's network(for voice).
Sprint therefore has better coverage than AT&T?

I have had no issues with sprint for 5+ years in the boston area, just moved to ct and signal isnt too great, called them and they are sending me a free airave and gave me a credit on my past bills. excellent CS here

It really depends on your location. I travel a lot, and have used both AT&T and Sprint over the past 5 years. In general Sprint has better coverage, especially for data.

Had 0 issues with Sprint. On VZW because of work, but if it was my choice..I'd be on Sprint.
Their service is great around here, thorough 3g and WiMax coverage.

I moved from T-Mobile to Sprint and couldn't be happier. Service on Sprint is much more reliable, especially going through all the hills we have here.

That's not a big feat IMO. T-Mobile has issues /w non high pop areas and hills seem to kill them. I was at a bottom of a hill and it killed my T-Mobile signal, swapped to Sprint and haven't looked back. That was many years ago though.

Fuck Sprint. The 2, 4 and 1.5 mbs are with the 4G connection. There have been so many text outages and dropped calls. Also whats the point of 4G when you have to be not moving?

Don't you live in OC? I get 6-8 down everywhere I go around here. Maybe your phone is broken.

If Im right next to the freeway Ill get good 4G speeds but its annoying when I drive and 4G will go in and out and it drops all the time. Their 3G speeds are just horrible.

I just did another speed test with 4G at my house and I got 1.5 mb/s.

My friend with Verizon gets 1.5 mb/s with 3G....

i had some issues with HTC Inspire on AT&T and they gave me a new SIM card. my old one was from my old iphone. suddenly my speedtest is a lot faster than average. will see if it fixes my GPS issues

Are you using an EVO? Rooted? What radio are you using?

Sprint has awesome plans, decent coverage/speed and crappy phone selection. Right now I pay about $58 per month (after a 25% discount) with Sprint. Same features on AT&T or Verizon would run about $120 per month. Unfortunately my Pre is old and dieing, my contract is up in a month, and Sprint has no phones I'm interested in. Not sure what I'm going to do.

I've had generally poorer signal indoors with Sprint than I did with AT&T, but I attribute that to the network type, not to any particular issue with Sprint. For the price, though, I wouldn't switch away from them... unless their phones suck when it's upgrade time.

Yep, this is why I switched to tmobile 10 years ago. I had sprint and literally would move 1 foot in my apt and bam, signal disappeared, move 1 foot back and signal would come back. I was hoping Sprint got better as I want to leave tmo before att kills them and fubars my data plan.

No issues here in Houston.. could be faster but it's everywhere and its cheap for unlimited everything.. and they dont even seem to care that I root and use tether for free.

4G works well as well.

I am thinking about moving to Sprint (from T-Mobile) for the Samsung Galaxy S II. I know T-Mobile will have it too but I'm hearing good things about Sprints service in this thread.
