AT&T will have to give up a few things, but it will go through. sprint is next. t-mo and sprint tried to play the low cost carrier game but it always fails.

i just saw someone buy a mytouch 4G a few days ago. i almost choked when i saw it was $99. you can buy better VZW and AT&T phones for less most days.

sprint is just as ridiculous. $199 for an Evo when the Inspire 4G is $70 from a lot of retailers

Should it be approved? No. Will it be approved? Of course, that is what lobbyists are for. T-Mobile and AT&T will dump tons of money into the pockets of people to ensure this gets done.

What are you talking about? The mytouch 4g is basically the same as the Thunderbolt which is the best phone available on Verizon and priced at $250.

ATT is the 2nd largest political contributor, they were the largest till a year or so ago.

The government will spend a ton of $ in hearings, proclaim they think it's a great deal for consumers, ask AT&T for some minor concession(s) and sign off on it.

no, the thunderbolt is the Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8655 Processor. it's an A9 Core CPU

i have the Inspire 4G and we have the same CPU. except my Inspire is cheaper and has a larger screen. but we both have A8 core CPU's which are ancient history by now

probably a temporary sale like t-mo is running for the next few days. the 4G is more expensive than other similar phones once the sale runs out.

Have a link for that? I was under the impression that there are currently two real types of Snapdragon; the 65nm and the 45nm one. I wasn't aware that there are phones with different 45nm Snapdragons. I was under the impression that the Inspire, Mytouch 4G, and Thunderbolt used the same processor. They do all use the same GPU.

I have a Windows phone and finally got my update from T-Mobile. Those with AT&T Windows phones are still waiting for them to approve the updates. Basically they are weasels. Haven't seen anything about the company that would lead me to trust them.

Just a general opinion based on things I have read. In this instance ask yourself what is their motivation for withholding the updates. All Windows phones are basically the same, shouldn't be any major holdup. The updates have been ready since Dec. We have been waiting for 3 months because of AT&T.

looks like both are A8 but the 8655 supports more cell techs. looks like the thunderbolt is just an Evo or Inspire with a newer CPU/modem

Verizon is still selling the A8-based iPhone 4, Droid X, and Droid 2 for well over what the MyTouch 4G costs. The MT4G isn't my favorite phone, but its hardly a bad phone for under $100. Plus, T-Mobile runs sales all the time. Just a couple of months ago every phone they sell was free with a new contract.

Price is certainly not one of the things you complain about with T-Mobile, that's for sure.

just like VZW and other carriers, any changes to the phone software you have to certify it's going to work on the carrier's network. every IT shop does things this way. you don't just put a device on the network that can cause all kinds of problems. aka iphone 3g
