AT&T, Sprint, or Verizon? Which one to get?

I was with Cingular for a year and now the contract's finally over(thank god). Can care less about the free minutes if I can't use them. I live in So. Cal and do most of the traveling in the San Gabriel Valley area. Which company offers the best coverage arond this area? I've read through the forums about different services but can't seem to come up with a solid conclusion. Any help is appreciated. TIA

I'm on the Sprint 6000 All Digital Minutes. Cingular, Sprint, Nextel, AT&T, I know people who say they all suck. Look at the coverage areas for California. That should give you a good idea.

Verizon I think has best reception but its expensive, especially their phones (so I hear).
Cingular has best plans, bad service/reception.
Sprint seems to be pretty decent.

Just remember that the starting time for nights and weekends has changed from 8pm to 9pm on Sprint plans. So even though you can get alot of N&W minutes you may not be able to use them all.

Just got Verizon. Got a pretty good deal.
300 anytime minutes and 3000 N&W minutes for $30 a month and the phones were free (Nokia 5185).

Voicestream 🙂 Nothing beats a global system for mobile communications.

I think they have a $39 package with 500 anytime minutes and unlimited weekends and they're all free from roaming and long distance charges.

Worth a look.

I just signed up with AT&T and I have been extremely happy with them.

me too, i am more than happy with my att service so far. i use my phone in LA and in San jose and the reception is good and nights begin at 8pm. I have never gotten a busy signal on the network and never had any dropped calls.

I have had so many problems with At&t I dont even want to mention it. They are fine until something wrong happens with your account, then the red tape starts coming out.. Basically here is what I got 2 times: Its our fault, dont pay it, next month: Its our fault dont pay it, next month: Its your fault, we are shutting down your service until you pay it and the over charges.. But that is just my opinion (*2)

Sprint kicks a$$, I love my service through them.. But look at coverage in your area and how you will be using your phone, go with that.

Sprint was certainly decent for me, but Verizon is better so far. I think Sprint's network is a little sluggish, because I have to wait about 4-5 seconds for calls to go through, while I only wait 1-2 with Verizon.

PS, Sprint has big problems in Chicago, so if you might be traveling there with any regularity, avoid Sprint PCS.

i am an AT&T customer in the bay area and have been very happy with it...i have heard good things about verizon and AT&T in southern california...you can unlimited n/w with AT&T starting at 8pm right now...not sure about the verizon plans...

voicestream is not offered in cali as far as i know...cingular just sucks...i don't know many people with sprint...
