Is there an "easy" way to backup the SGS2? Coming from an iPhone where you would just sync it and have an image that you could restore after a hard reset saved me several times.

I received the DM message the other night that an update was available (2.3.6) and I wanted to backup my phone before I let it go, but could not find an easy or one-stop solution for a full backup or system image on a non-rooted phone. I did end up letting it update and it went without a hitch and installed just fine and booted back up.

I realize that if I root, then I can use TiBackup and CWM, but as it stands right now I am more than pleased with the phone in the stock condition.

What I have read is it takes a combination of the following to get a complete or nearly complete backup but a system image is not possible on a non-rooted phone:

* Google backup from the Settings menu on the phone
* MyBackUp Pro
* SMS/MMS Backup

A combination of the three would cover most but possibly not everything, but no way to make a system image of a stock, non-rooted phone?

Say, something similar to the IOS sync for the iPhone or Acronis True Image home for a PC?

Thanks, Bill

I don't think there's a more complete and reliable full backup image than Nandroid.

I don't know specifically about the Galaxy S2, but for some phones (my Dell Streak, for instance) you don't have to root them to boot to ClockworkMod and create a Nandroid backup.

In general, all you need to do is flash the recovery image with Clockwork through fastboot, boot to CW right away, run Nandroid, and just reboot after it's done. The stock recovery will override CW after a complete boot, so your phone will be exactly how it was before (only now it has a complete image backup that you can restore with the same method).

Edit: Ok, I realize that this way may not be the *easy* way that you're asking for so it's fine to ignore it :)

I use Titanium in conjunction with SMS Backup+ (stores on gmail) which is very easy to do. I have used MyBackup and it is easier than Titanium but I had some issues with it in the past.
