I remember when they were hands down the best. Back when they were TDMA and had roaming agreements with basically every other TDMA carrier plus the whole B side analog.

Then they decided that 3g was going to be their thing and the company went to hell. The iphone probably saved that company.

Was fairly happy with them back in the days when they were Cingular. Now, not so much.

I've had verizon and at&t in central fla within the last 2 years. Not a bit of differnce except actually have better signal with at&t in some spots. Oh, and my bill is over 20$ less a month WITH an iphone data plan & txt plan.

I have never had anything but pleasant experiences with AT&T.

thats because Detroit was one of their original markets. Your network has been there and they have just had to tweak it. Here in GR, it sucked big donkey genitalia for years and still isn't great.

Looking at the charts in the article I'm dumbfounded with the spring results. Have they changed drastically in the last two years? When I had Sprint they were the worst with customer service and call quality/reliability which really pissed me off since they brag about having the most reliable network where I live.

I've driven from Detroit to Florida and back multiple times, and spent 75% of the time tethered, constantly responding to emails on my BB, and taking the occassional phone call. Very rarely did I have issues, other than in the boonies of West Virginia's mountains.

I've had AT&T for 3 years, never really need the customer service, but the damn dropped calls. I don't know if it's my crappy old phone or the network, but it makes me crazy.

I just dropped my iPhone tonight and switched back to Verizon after 3 years. Here is the last photo my AT&T phone ever took:

I switched from AT&T to Sprint, and it's been a much better experience in terms of coverage, customer service, prices, etc.

AT&T sucks. I know too many people that carry Mifi's cus AT&T's coverage sucks. This is in LA mind you. The second largest metro area in the US. I just don't understand people who want the iPhone so bad but are knowingly going to the worst network. What good is a phone if you can't even use it?

I think their 3g service is available in roughly 3 towns across america.

I kid you not, I get 5 bars & perfect service in the MIDDLE OF NOWHERE KANSAS when I helped a friend move cross-country a couple summers ago. I had 5 full bars on my iPhone. In my house? Zero to 1/2 a bar, unless I stood near a window. Love the phone, hate AT&T.

I'm sure I'll switch back when the 4G super iPhone with front-facing camera and OLED screen and whatever comes out :awe:

I'm very surprised at the rate for Sprint's customer service for the past year. Ever since they stopped outsourcing their CSR's I've had nothing but good experiences from them.

I would not use my iphone if I did not get service, as I said above me nor my wife have ever had any issues with service in the southeast where we live and spend most of our time. I travel over a large portion of the east coast for work and have never had any huge area where I could not get service. I think it all depends on where your live, I had sprint before and switched because I had constant service issues.

AT&T isn't too bad in Tuscaloosa, unless there's a football game. You may get your text messages 4 or 5 hours later. There are a few dead spots driving through the state and 3G is only in the bigger cities.

I used to get an excellent signal from AT&T at my apartment a few years ago. Now, I get dropped calls and even text messages that I have to repeat several times before they go through. And this is on Edge! When I had my iPhone 3G last year, actually using 3G was pretty much not even worth attempting in the Bay Area. I'm very seriously considering getting a Droid on Verizon this month.

That's exactly it - it's all about where you live. In Connecticut, Verizon is the bomb - I don't even have a house phone because of them.

hahaha no surprise there. ATT is fucking garbage everywhere I've had to use it. When I can't get 3G service in the middle of downtown Chicago or in Manhattan there's something frightfully wrong with your infrastructure.
