btw ..... here's the number for the Online ordering customer service 1-866-602-4412.

the regular service just plays dumb about the whole $10 plan.

you also need to call them afterward to order the modem or you probably will get the DSL turned on but no modem to go with it.

79.99 for a wireless modem with a 49.99 rebate
49.99 regular modem with a 49.99 rebate

all rebates are after 30 days i guess ... but we'll see if that works out.

the online ordering is still buried and you have to enter your phone number to get to it so i can't direct link.

they are being really jerk hole-ish about the whole process

So I get one, but still need to buy the other? Seems like the deals got worse over the years. 3 years ago we got a free modem that had built in wireless, multiple extenders, etc. When they did the 2wire packages.

Also thought it was odd getting pricing from ATT was cheaper than getting pricing from SBC. Aren't they the same?

Hrm.

Edit: Just talked to them online. I can only order the naked DSL via telephone. Which means no deal at all on a modem. Basically just tell em i wont sign up unless they include the hardware? :p

Look on eBay for a Siemens 4100 DSL modem. I've had one that was included when signing up with SBC-Yahoo (now AT&T). It was a "free after rebate" deal thru BestBuy from over 2 years ago. The Siemens 4100 DSL modem can usually be obtained from an eBay seller for under $20, including shipping.

win some, lose some, but the actual connection worked great, especially for her limited use.

I called them on it and they mailed me the voucher. Actually had a very pleasant person on the phone, which is lucky for them. I was about to drop the DSL and phone and go cable internet and VOIP. I'll probably still do that, but I'll stick out the year since I agreed to it and they treated me well.

Thanks for the tip. However this has been a nightmare.

I ordered 1/24 and as of this date still do not have DSL.

For the pricing, the website quoted me a pricing that wasn't available 'in my area'. So its $23.99 / 1.5MB vs $19.99 / 1.5MB. I went through several escalations about the $10.00 naked DSL and never had service with AT&T and was continiously told the plan was not available.

Ordered the $80.00 wireless [no rebate, as the rebate is only when adding DSL to an existing home line, or requires a home land line.] thinking i didnt have time to wait. Thanks for the tip, hopefully it helps someone in the future reading this.

First service order they didnt have my apartment number so I did not receive the equipment order. After waiting for a week I called to see what the hold up was since no attempt was made to contact me. Second service order call they had the wrong apartment number. Stating there system didn't go that high for apartment numbers in my building? Ok? By this time the modem arrived and I was told 24-48hrs. Five days later still no service. I call and they say it was completed 5 days ago. Yeah. To the wrong apartment. So i've been getting billed for 10 days of DSL at another residence that isn't even mine.

For my type of work we constantly have issues with AT&T ordering T1's, etc.

This company is nothing but a nightmare and consumers are left with little to no choice.
I hope others do find this $10.00 / Naked DSL option. And share this info as much as possible for others. This company just needs a good slap in the face though in my opinion.

I got the $10 plan for my g/f several months ago. Ordered online with no problem. Got the $50 rebate for the modem after 3 months, and got a $50 referral bonus for me. Sorry others are having such problems.

This deal is still active. Emphasize that this deal is ONLY "ONLINE DEAL DO IT YOURSELF!" Orders by phone will not work and you will just end up frustrating yourself. Be patient and near the end you will be able to select the $10 DSL service, otherwise, pay 19.95 if you can't wait. Good luck.

Here's the direct link.

Has anyone tried getting a bare DSL line recently? I remember AT&T was supposed to offer a $20 one.

? AT&T Home Networking and Internet Security Suite included ($10 per month value)
$47.95

FastAccess® DSL Direct Xtreme
? AT&T Home Networking included ($5 per month value)
$42.95

FastAccess® DSL Direct Ultra $37.95

Even though they say it's an online deal only, their support people know about it. I had to call because their site was down or something and they knew exactly what I was talking about. I simply told them that I am not a current subscriber but I would like to subscribe to the INTERNET only deal for 10.00 a month and I tried already but having computer issues completing it.

Read the topic summary, I also tried to get this online and had no luck. I could only get it down to 14.99 a month.
Do the live chat thing and tell them you want it for $10 and they will switch it for you.

Do you remember the phone number you called? Thanks.

1-888-321-2375 <--That is the phone number I received in my sign-up email for contacting Bellsouth (AT&T) in case of problems back in August 2007 when I signed up for the $10/m plan, which is still only $10/m even after the 12 month commitment was met.

It keeps transferring me to their regular sales line (which is closed now). I'll try in the morning. I hope they will know what I am talking about.
