AT&T Porting out number

Not sure if anybody has dealt with this scenario...

So my phone number is the primary on the account while my wife's number is the secondary add-on. She just upgraded phones so her number is stuck on contract for another 2 years. My number is free and clear.

If I were to port my number out to test out Ting.com, do you know if AT&T will cancel the whole account thus making a mess because of my wife's number? Or will they just make my wife's number primary and adjust the account accordingly.

I'll prob end up callin' them tomorrow to see but wanted to see if anyone has tried to port out the primary number from a family plan.

Just a suggestion:

I believe you can port number after you've been on ting for a while... So just get a new account/Line on ting with a new number and test it first

She's going to have to migrate to a single line plan. You obviously won't be able to do a family plan with one line unless you still had two other lines.

Correct. I'm mainly concerned about the automated switchover process if AT&T just gets a notification of a 1 number removal. I'll just call 'em. Thx

Yes they will, they have a system that automatically approves the transfer out as long as your new carrier provides the correct porting information (usually your account number and pin/password).
