AT&T: iPhone4s orders now taking 7-14 days

I preordered a 64GB black and a 64GB white (two separate orders) at an AT&T retail store at ~10:00am on 10/7/2011.

The confirmation emails for both orders said 14-21 days (presumably from 10/7/2011) for delivery.

Today I got an email notifying me that the black 4S has shipped via FedEx. The tracking number they provided is not yet active in the FedEx system, but that's usually to be expected for just-shipped packages. No shipping notice for the white 4S yet.

Strangely enough, the black one shipped first, even though the white one was ordered first. The white one still lists as PREORDER

Mine arrived at 2:58 PM... I guess they met their 10/14 before 3:00 PM goal. 😉

Now to wait while it puts over 200 apps on the phone. 🙁

Tempted to cancel my preorder and go see if I can get one at the store. Heard people in my area are walking into store and out with phone meanwhile I'm Still 1-2 weeks on mine
 
Wow, the upload speeds on the iPhone 4S are considerably better than my 3GS. I was getting ~15-20KB/s on the 3GS and now I get around 150KB/s. Download speeds are a bit better too... I got around 245KB/s with 3 bars vs. 250KB/s with 5 bars (right near a microcell).

(Note that those are in kilobytes per second)
 
White 4S ordered at 1 AM on the 7th still hasn't shipped, though I did get the black one from the same order. Should have ordered from Apple, AT&T is a mess.

got a plan? Thinking about calling in and trying to cancel, but need to see how local stock is first; however based on that article/comments, I don't think I'll have much luck.

So, I pre-ordered the iphone on October 7th with AT&T and activated new service (will be switching from t-mobile), and let me just say that I'm not too happy. I didn't received my iphone today, which is cool. I went to the Apple Store and the guy there tells me that since I pre-ordered that I'm unable to purchase a phone through them with the account that AT&T set up (somehow it's pending until the iphone ships; I didn't even ask to cancel). He tells me he can sign me up for a new account with AT&T and I could get the phone, the only problem being that I would have to pay a cancellation fee with AT&T and a restocking fee. I call AT&T and the rep tells me that she's unsure of when it will ship - only thing she knows is that it's 14-21 days. Great. I cancelled with T-mobile and my phone is set to shut off on the 23rd of October, so that leaves me without a phone for a week (if it's 14-21 days from today, if not, then it's without a phone for 2 weeks). All I can say is this is the worse experience ever. Should have stuck with t-mobile.

Probably just going to wait it out. I read some people explained the situation at the AT&T store and ended up just buying one at full price. And when the preorder gets delivered they would return it and get the unsubsidized purchase refunded.

I'm reading the ATT forums now and nothing good will come out of this. ugh.
 
nah many folks walked in and got the less popular models no problem any quantity (ie 3 black 32gb or 4 white 64gb) - white 16gb - not as easy.
 
What good will it do? It'll be as effective as when I go in and bitch at the manager of the store I reserved my phones at.

Companies have been known to respond to social media outrage (I see this shit on Consumerist all the time)
 
The only thing I see AT&T doing is giving us some crappy discount on accessories.

that's more than we're getting right now.

I've been silenced @ the ATT forums.
