Tempted to cancel my preorder and go see if I can get one at the store. Heard people in my area are walking into store and out with phone meanwhile I'm Still 1-2 weeks on mine
White 4S ordered at 1 AM on the 7th still hasn't shipped, though I did get the black one from the same order. Should have ordered from Apple, AT&T is a mess.
So, I pre-ordered the iphone on October 7th with AT&T and activated new service (will be switching from t-mobile), and let me just say that I'm not too happy. I didn't received my iphone today, which is cool. I went to the Apple Store and the guy there tells me that since I pre-ordered that I'm unable to purchase a phone through them with the account that AT&T set up (somehow it's pending until the iphone ships; I didn't even ask to cancel). He tells me he can sign me up for a new account with AT&T and I could get the phone, the only problem being that I would have to pay a cancellation fee with AT&T and a restocking fee. I call AT&T and the rep tells me that she's unsure of when it will ship - only thing she knows is that it's 14-21 days. Great. I cancelled with T-mobile and my phone is set to shut off on the 23rd of October, so that leaves me without a phone for a week (if it's 14-21 days from today, if not, then it's without a phone for 2 weeks). All I can say is this is the worse experience ever. Should have stuck with t-mobile.

got a plan? Thinking about calling in and trying to cancel, but need to see how local stock is first; however based on that article/comments, I don't think I'll have much luck.
Probably just going to wait it out. I read some people explained the situation at the AT&T store and ended up just buying one at full price. And when the preorder gets delivered they would return it and get the unsubsidized purchase refunded.
What good will it do? It'll be as effective as when I go in and bitch at the manager of the store I reserved my phones at.
Companies have been known to respond to social media outrage (I see this shit on Consumerist all the time)
The only thing I see AT&T doing is giving us some crappy discount on accessories.
