Thank you! I have my cable modem working when plugged directly to the computer, but when I try to get the Linksys wireless router working it's a no go.

What are the settings?

When my cable was down on Sunday I upgraded the firmware for the router. Please help!

Thank you again.

My AT&T cable service only works with the specific MAC address of the orginal network card they installed. When I bought my router, I had an option to clone the MAC address so the router would be able to do its thing.

Maybe your AT&T service has the same deal going on.

davidos,

Sometimes updating the firmware resets the router's settings to factory default.

Just configure the router to dynamic ip for the WAN and DHCP for the LAN. Go to bed and it will be running when your wake up in the morning. Most DHCP servers will lease the ip address to the specific mac address for four hours. Once it is released, it will dynamically assign the ip address to the router's mac address.
