Seriously say what you want about Com-crap I can't remember the last time my internet here was down for more then a few hours and outages of any kind are rare.
And it appears that AT&T internet was having serious issues in the eastern half of the US earlier today but they've been largely corrected.
With fiber or even DSL, it's very unlikely to be 'just you'. Unless the line to your house is damaged, it's almost certainly at least your neighborhood.
Problem is that a cable or trunk line being damaged 500 miles from you can take your service down. I was out for over an hour last week and it seems it was just a switch issue, no physical cable damage anywhere. They never say what kind of switch issue ... a bad card/component or some body goofed in coding something.
