Does it include a router and modem for free? How does it work if you need to port forward? Thanks

Splash page says a Wi-fi gateway is included. You can port forward on their gateway, but the mechanics of how will be dependent on which of their gateways you end up with.

The ATT gigafiber gateway is horrible.
I had to tinker with it at my Uncles house.
You also can not provision your own modem.
You need to use the gateway.

It has no bridge option.
They have no modem only option either, because that gateway also bridges your media to TV and filters the bandwith so it doesn't count towards your internet.

Oh also disclaimer to all who go ATT.
ATT is unlimited data, my friends have not been charged for going over the 1TB.
ATT CSR will also tell you the bandwidth data is unlimited.
ATT contracts however specifically states the opposite. It states your Metered
Although ATT will not charge you right now for overages on DATA, nothing is to say they wont later on.
They have full legal recourse, because your unlimited data is just a passover on sight in vue of whats really written on the contract.

And i have tried on many occasions to get that wording removed.
They wont do it. I couldn't even get them to admit its legal arbitrage.
All they could say is, we don't meter as of right now.

So, best of luck to you, and i hope your service contracts expire so your not committed to the meter before att decides to shaft you. And knowing ATT they will Shaft you.

If i'm reading what he said right, you can't.

The AT&T fiber gateway (according to aigomorla anyway), does not allow bridge mode, so you can't just pass the connection along to your own router like you want.

I have AT&T Fiber, and I disable the wireless on my AT&T combo router, and I use a separate wireless router in bridge mode.

Assuming they deploy the same units everywhere, looks like you'll be okay, but based on what agiomorla posted, and what thecoolnessrune mentioned regarding multiple units, they may have various units out there, some easier than others to work with.

It could be this as well, but the only sure way for pcslookout to find out for sure, is to contact AT&T and see what unit is used in their region.

Isn't that true pcslookout? :p

it says this:
The gateway that AT&T provides doesn’t have a bridge mode, but it has another feature that’s an effective substitute.

DMZ is not Bridge mode... But whatever... it allows a full passthough without restrictions, so you could technically throw a router on top.

But OK i can still work with it if i can get DMZ.
But when i tried i could not get DMZ to work properly.

But anyhow I still need to try this at my uncles house.
using 192.168.1.0 if i can get DMZ option its better then nothing i guess.

And on a Aris, you have and actual bridged mode button, so its just one press.
But if changing the ip to 176.16.0.0 will allow me to bridge the stupid gateway, then i guess it will work.

i dont have att fiber, but i do have att and only 18mbit, i go over the 1tb every month and get charged 10$ per 50gb. They will give you alot of warnings then they start to do something about it. some months i would pull 8tb and never a issue but this year i have been getting charged for going over. Very frustrating and im ready to start another line of service to get another 1tb a month. (its 30$ extra for unlimited?) and 40$ per month for my current 18mbit line. (they want to charge 70 tho unless you online chat them)

@aigomorla do you have any idea what gateway model you have for AT&T Fiber?

it looks just like this:

ATTgatewayfront.jpg

when i first saw it i was like OH WOW, that looks like a beefy router..
Then i realized its was like a cheap date with heavy makeup when you really took a look inside.
And then i realized i made a big mistake for even expecting much of it because its AT&T.
And then... towards the end, i just raged and told my uncle sorry, your at the mercy of ATT snooping though all your web sites because your locked on there DNS, and didnt pay the extra 15 dollars per month to opt out.

But the DMZ mode strips away all the router built firewall security. I do not think making DMZ port can do anything with bridging of ATT modem.
