After the data outage with Tmobile a few days ago, I went online and ordered a refurbed iphone and plan from AT&T. While adding items to my basket, a customer service chat window opened up and I spoke to a live person. I said that I wanted to port my number over, but since I wasn't supposed to get my phone for a couple days and still needed to use my current phone, that it would be a problem. She assured me that my number doesn't get ported over until I make the call when my new phone arrives and they flip the switch to change it over.

SWEET!!

WRONG!!

I never received my phone today like I was told I would so I called in. Evidentally they took longer processing my port but that it had finally gotten through today when I called in and they would ship my phone in 24-48 hours and it would be here sometime next week.

GRR.. not what I was told. I was expecting it today.

I go see District 9 tonight and when I get out, I have no service on my phone. Get back home and try to log into T mobile.. guess what.. those fucktards completely ported my number over even after assuring me multiple times I could use my phone until my new one arrived and I finalized the process manually by calling in. I can't call AT&T right now on my wife's line because their customer service is closed so I'm trying to go through TMOBILE to get my service turned back on, however, I doubt it will work since I was on FlexPay. I'm so pissed that I was lied to multiple times by AT&T. I go oncall Sunday and without a phone I'm fucked.

/vent off.

It takes 3-7 days to port numbers from one carrier to another. They have to initiate a port request to transfer the number at specified date and it has to verified through a national clearing house.

Call T-mobile to see if they have pending portout request to ATT and what day it was suppose to switch over. Also have att confirm that the number will be ported over to their network.

its not easy as flipping a switch.

You still have 30 days to activate your number, as long as you do not have any billing/account issues with Tmobile.

they had it ported in 2 days. I'm talking to Tmobile to see about getting it ported back to Tmobile right now but my sim card needs to be reactivated.

AT&T's customer service is garbage. Sprint gets a bad rap but I've had much easier dealings with them then the 7+ years I had with AT&T. Only reason I stuck around was the iphone, but the Pre is a very good substitute.

Never had a Customer Service problem with either Sprint of AT&T. I have instruments from both - and my only contact was initial setup. I walked into the stores and they both handled it quickly and efficiently.

Face to face beats online every time. :)

 Of course, as there's no way separate stores are staffed with different people, making the experience for each customer different.

I've been in several Sprint and Verizon stores and they both kinda suck in this regard (maybe unless you go right at opening or closing or something). AT&T was actually the best in this regard, I was helped right away in their store.

Not doubting that you've had bad experiences, I'm just saying not everybody will have the same bad experiences.

Exactly! And sometimes that is a reflection of your own attitude and demeanor. BTW . . . what does "Shens" mean?

It basically means 'bullshit'. Not sure where the term started but it's been used for quite a while around here. Count yourself lucky you don't know it, as that means you haven't been sucked into OT for quite some time.
