AT&T: Buy refurb 8GB iPhone upgrade to new in July?

I have been contemplating buying a refurb iPhone, but I want to know if a new version was released in July, would I be able to just upgrade? Anyone with knowledge on this would be helpful 🙂 Thanks in advance!

If it's anything like the 3G launch, then yes. You'd have to pay a $200 premium (compared to starting a new account) to upgrade, and that would put you on a new 2 year contract.

No, just OLED is the rumor thus far. These are the specs I've found:

* 32GB and 16GB storage (up from the current 16GB and 8GB models)
* $199 and $299 price points to be maintained
* 3.2-megapixel camera (up from the current 2-megapixel camera)
* Video-recording and editing capabilities
* Ability to send a picture & video via MMS
* Discontinuation of the metal band surrounding the edge of the device
* OLED screen
* 1.5 times the battery life of the current models
* Double the RAM and processing power
* Built-in FM transmitter
* Apple logo on back will glow
* Rubber-tread backing
* Sleeker design
* Built-in compass
* The camera, GPS, compass and Google map combined will identify photo and inform about photo locations
* Turn-by-turn directions

OLED with increased resolution? What about a microsd memory card slot, I fill up 16GB and would like extra space... even if they double it to 32GB. They should get with AT&T and offer live video... add a camera in the front of the phone like the Korean phones, so you can do live video feeds (640x480) of each other.

Not including an SD slot keeps the phone as thin as possible, and makes the new sizes seem more appealing so you're likely to upgrade.

A camera on the front of the phone would be nice, but may add to the thickness of the phone too.

I've cut that down to the interesting stuff, and even then none of it is confirmed, although the Storage aspect is pretty much a given IMHO.

As long as it's similar thickness to the current model, I'm sure most people would be fine with it... ie Samsung Instinct is similar thickness to current gen iphone but has a microsd slot. But since they're going OLED, I'm sure they want it to look sexy with an even thinner profile.
