Well, so much for that T-Mobile and Sprint merger, eh?

Realistically it makes sense...after all, they're both HSPA carriers....but yea, as a long time T-Mobile customer I can't say I'm happy about this. Guess I'll be going to Verizon after all.

edit: I'm certainly glad I jumped on that free phone deal over Valentine's day...I didn't desparately need the Vibrant (in fact, the Venue Pro is still my primary phone)....but it locked me in to two years at T-Mobile's rates.

I'm just wondering, why are people so anti-ATT but so pro Verizon? I'm not really happy about this deal either but mainly because I wanted Sprint to get a little larger.

AT&T is almost nazi when it comes to usage caps and policies. Verizon is a long-term established brand with strong reception and service performance.

I'm not anti-ATT as much as I'm against less choices and more fees to pay. The merge may boost AT&T reception and performance, but it's just begging for more fees or caps since the deal burns through $39b, and we've already heard rumbling of internet caps, data usage caps, etc...

I've had really poor experiences with AT&T's customer service over the years, endless tiers of support, no one knows what anyone does, never get any action on an issue till you go up the tiers to "I've gone flipping nuclear, and someone ought to help me before I go postal" tier.

They (internet division) actually gave me a years worth of internet service once, I had drop outs all day every day, kept calling & complaining, finally got it resolved after a year, and then they dropped my speeds to just above dial up because the line was so bad...

I don't even want to tell the billing error stories :(

AT&T has terrible coverage. It's so bad that they have to supplement their network with Wifi hotspots all over the place. They charge just as much as Verizon for infinitely worse coverage. Verizon and AT&T are both communist carriers, but at least with Verizon you actually get your money's worth of a network.

I don't have Verizon or AT&T as I'm not going to pay that much.

AT&T has poor coverage, service, customer relations, but charges like they give premium service, at least with Verizon they provide decent coverage.

I was awed by the signal when I was on Page Plus and with the Thunderbolt I just activated, I am wowed by the network speed, I have the equivalent of cable internet speed on my flipping phone.

I have a sim card activated with AT&T for a first gen iPad, I frequently lose signal and the speed is so variable it's unreal, it's like they have monkeys throwing switches randomly... I have 0 bars in my hospital for AT&T & TMobile, they're both well aware of it, TMobile not doing anything, I can understand, AT&T should have thrown up a tower years ago to deal with it. My friends with iPhones at work have a prepaid phone to use so they can use Verizon's network and actually make calls, the Verizon iPhone doesn't help because they're all under contract for another year or two...

So is the next merger to happen going to be sprint and verizon? Then finally one mega wireless company merger between at&t and the offspring of sprint and verizon?

And to carry this even further, after Godzilla cell corp is created, it will then be broken into tiny pieces. Sound familiar?
